Honestly, nn as given names is, [name]IMO[/name], not a good idea. There may come a day when she would want something more “official”. [name]Annie[/name] is such a natural nn of [name]Anne[/name] that even if you always called her [name]Annie[/name], I still feel you should name her [name]Anne[/name]. [name]Anne[/name] is a beautiful choice- classic, timeless, great namesakes, and can be her “adult” name if she chooses. She may choose to be [name]Annie[/name] the rest of her life, but [name]Anne[/name] is always there.

[name]Annie[/name]. I’ll be saying the opposite to most I think. She can always shorten it to [name]Anne[/name] if she feels the need.

As a [name]Charlotte[/name] who uses [name]Charley[/name] all the time, I have to say I agree with the general consensus of [name]Anne[/name] - in the whole formal name even if you’re called by a nn all the time anyway.

However as a personal preference, I just love the name [name]Annie[/name] as it stands alone. It’s not particularly informal sounding as a name and has a lovely ring to it. But whichever you choose, your daughter will have a beautiful name…
