It appears I’m pronouncing these slightly differently to my DH. I’m curious how you would all pronounce them and what the ‘correct’ way is.

I would say that either [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Elise[/name_f]/[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-leese or Ahn-uh-leese would be correct pronunciations for either spelling. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you and your husband pronounce [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]/[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]?
“ann-e-liese”. Pretty much like [name_f]Ann[/name_f] & [name_f]Elise[/name_f] together!

I’m sure some say it with an [name_m]Ah[/name_m] start rather than [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
Sounds like you are pronouncing the first one in a [name_m]French[/name_m] way and the second in sort of a [name_m]German[/name_m] way.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is correctly pronounced UNN-eh-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-zeh.
I would pronounce them both the same way, but if the first was supposed to be the [name_m]French[/name_m] version of the name (no idea), then I would pronounce [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] UNN-[name_f]Elise[/name_f] or even ON-[name_f]Elise[/name_f] with that [name_m]French[/name_m] nasal sound at the beginning (as in “en chanté”).
I would pronounce both as [name_f]ANN[/name_f]-uh-lease. I know others pronounce it with the [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-na prefix, but I greatly prefer [name_f]ANN[/name_f]-Uh.
I would pronounce [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] as ann-uh-lease and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] as ann-uh-leez. If I were trying to pronounce it the [name_m]German[/name_m] way [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] would be ahn-uh-leez-uh I think.
Other Berries will probably disagree, but I don’t actually think it’s an issue to pronounce it slightly differently to your partner. One of my cousins’ names is pronounced slightly differently by her parents- her dad and the other native English speakers in our family say it one way, and her mum and the other non-native speakers in the family say it a another way. She answers to and identifies with both pronunciations, and doesn’t care that it’s said differently. (She uses her mum’s pronunciation herself.)
They’re both “[name_f]Anna[/name_f]—Lease” unless you’re in Germany
