Hubs adores the former and thinks the latter is too much (he’s not one for “extra letters” as he deems them). I like both spellings but kind of like the flourish of the latter and that it’s closer to the [name_m]German[/name_m] (we both have [name_m]German[/name_m] heritage).
I prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. It looks more like a proper name to me (even though both spellings are legit), whereas [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] looks more modern. I just see [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] smushed together in [name_f]Annelise[/name_f], while [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] has more vintage charm.
I prefer the [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] spelling. It just seems to be the one I’m most familiar and comfortable with now, even though [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] may be more intuitive. I love [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] by the way.
I like both, but I do prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] myself. I’m not entirely sure just why - I just like the look and feel of it…it has an antique-whimsical type feel to it which I love. I guess, if anything, [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] looks a lot like [name_f]Anne[/name_f] + [name_f]Elise[/name_f] ‘smooshed’ together (I am well aware though that it is a legitimate spelling of the name) which does make it feel a little more contemporary, which could actually fit better for you, depending on your style.
I prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I just can’t warm to [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] at all. To me it just looks lazy, like a cheat of the [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f], because in [name_m]German[/name_m] it would be Annelies which might confuse English speaker about the pronouncation so the closes thing is to just add the e.
I like how [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] looks - looks like it’s the original one but it’s hard to spell … I had to go to the top of the page to check the spelling and then went back again and just copy and paste because I couldn’t spell it right ”
