[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is pretty and stylish - my only doubt about it is that there are so many spellings, and I can never decide which I like best! I think [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is my favourite today

I flip flop between [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. There’s maybe a slight difference in the image I get for the different spellings but they’re all generally variations on the same theme: elegant, feminine, pastel. Antique lace, ballet slippers, and formal gardens in full bloom. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is the most elegant and graceful of the bunch. [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] leans solidly into exclusively pink territory. [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is a bit more casual, less strolling the garden walk and more laying in the grass under the lilac bush in the corner of the garden that’s starting to go a little wild. [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] is maybe more a regency era dance (I’m specifically thinking of the ones in Pride and Prejudice).
I say it anne-uh-lease no matter how its spelled. I love it, it’s so pretty and I have a huge soft spot for [name_f]Annie[/name_f] related names. The only downside is that the spelling will probably need to be clarified a lot.

My vote goes to Annelise. This was actually on my list of potential girls names. It’s fairly intuitive to pronounce and spell but uncommon so both will have to be corrected from time to time. Adding that extra “e” in Anneliese clutters the name a bit and makes me think of the name of a cultural group with the “ese” ending. Also, google Anneliese and the first thing that comes up is a tragic story of an exorcism of a young German girl, on whom the Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem are based. Not a reason to avoid the spelling necessarily though.

With Annalise, all I see is anal. Sorry, but teenage boys are cruel and if I see it, so will they!

I pronounce these “AH-na-leess.” I’ve hear that the -liese ending makes the “uh” ending sound: AH-na-lee-ssa, though I don’t have a ton of experience with [name_m]German[/name_m]. Apparently, the -lise ending is the [name_u]French[/name_u] version and ends with the SS sound.

I love the name, just not the spelling.

Anneliese!

I feel like Anneliese and Annalise are more polished ~ the rest give me misspelling vibes. Anneliese feels very German and gives me Heidi-esque vibes. Annalise gives me an “American Anneliese” if that makes any sense.

Anna-leese

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] & [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] are my favorite

All of the spellings are good to me! [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is pretty.

I say Ann-ell-eez/Ann-uh-lease for [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites spellings are [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]

This is my favorite spelling because I love [name_f]Elise[/name_f] too, and want it to be Ann+Elise. I don’t like the [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] spelling in [name_f]English[/name_f] as much because I have heard the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation is Anna-Lisa not anna-lise, and so it feels like it is pronounced wrong to use this spelling pronounced like Annelise-- or at least it would make me uncertain how to pronounce it if I saw it.
