Another alliteration dilemma. Please help!!!!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone

My husband and I are absolutely delighted to be expecting our first child in just a few months - a boy! We are both over the moon and super excited, but we have a naming dilemma on our hands that Iā€™d love to get your opinions on

My husband and I made a pact years before we were even thinking about conceiving that our first son would be called the name weā€™ve always both loved, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for our first daughter). Consequently, weā€™ve been affectionately calling our boy bean [name_m]Henry[/name_m] since we found out. Hereā€™s the problem though: my husbandā€™s surname is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

Does [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sound ridiculous? Or is it distinctive and memorable? Middle name will be [name_m]Grayson[/name_m]. What would you think if you saw [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] on a resumƩ? Is it a serious enough name for an adult?

Please be honest!

Iā€™m a fan of alliteration. I really like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! Sounds handsome and spunky.

Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to use our favourite name!

I am not a fan of alliteration, but other people love it and use it intentionally. As far as alliterative names go, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] works because the Hā€™s are soft, not jarring as in say, [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Palmer[/name_m].

I like alliteration. It gives the name some punch! I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sounds great

Huh, funny you just now realized, lol. I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is fine but sounds like a character with two first names ([name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m], [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_m]Wayne[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], etc.) I personally wouldnā€™t do it, but thereā€™s nothing inherently wrong with alliteration.

I love it! Definitely distinguished.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a great name! Iā€™d definitely say go for it as its a name youā€™ve loved for so long. I donā€™t find it ā€œsillyā€ at all, some alliteration is not my style, but some times, like this time, it just works beautifully. Maybe its like a previous poster said about harder and softer sounds. But anyway, alliteration is lovely in this case!
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a solid and handsome name, I can see it fitting all lifestyles and stages of life. It feels versatile.
All the best with your little one!

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is very handsome, and if you love the name, you should definitely use it!
I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is a great combo, especially with your last name.

congratulations on the little one!!

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is lovely! Sounds fun and energetic

Thank you so much to everyone who has responded so far

The comments are mostly very positive and I canā€™t tell you how excited (and relieved!) Iā€™m feeling after reading all your lovely thoughts on the name we love.

Please keep your thoughts coming! Itā€™s great to be able to get help and support anonymously, as we want to keep our little guyā€™s name a secret from friends and family. And just quietly - even though it really shouldnā€™t matter - I know weā€™d be heartbroken if our family hated the name and thought it was ridiculous.

Iā€™m generally not a fan of alliteration, mainly because I grew up with an alliterated name and felt it didnā€™t work and drew unwanted attention. That said, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is not bad, and clearly lots of people think itā€™s a positive feature.

I think it works.

I think itā€™s fine! My daughter has a first and middle name starting with J, and our next daughter will likely have the initials M_M, possibly MMM because that is my favorite combination so far. I think this is one of those things that some are bothered by and others like or donā€™t care about, but is so easy to stress over! The only thing I would worry about is maybe having a weird word spelled with initials (HAH, HEH, HOH, HUH?) but I think [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] is fine.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sounds great!
