Another teaser game, since the old ones seem to be dying. [name_m]The[/name_m] rules are the same, just share a part of your book (it can be as long as you want). However, I am going to add a new rule in regards to AI: It’s totally fine if you used AI (I use it a little myself, mostly to help with writer’s block), I’m assuming all of our books are still mostly rough drafts (mine sure are) and sometimes writers need a little help. However, I think you should disclose if the text you are using to tease your book was partially AI generated. This should be a non-judgemental and safe place to do so. I know AI isn’t everybody’s favorite thing (I have my hesitations about it too), but there’s no shame in needing a push to keep writing sometimes. Everyone has their methods. From my experience, AI cannot write a good book on its own. It gets confused constantly and needs lots of guidance. I still do a lot of work on my books and write on my own when I can. [name_m]The[/name_m] ideas are all my own. I’m assuming a lot of people do the same thing. This rule is in place mostly for myself, as I feel like my fellow Writerberries are owed transparency. If you don’t follow it, nothing will happen. It’s really more of a suggestion than a rule.
Another rule, that I can’t remember if it was part of the other teaser games or not, is: Please blur any extreme curse words in your teaser. Anything above an occasional “damn” or “hell” should probably be blurred. This is because some people (myself included) are not big fans of swearing. It is also because there are some young Berries in the forums (or at least there were in the past). Thank you for your understanding.
I’ll start us off (yes, I did use some AI to help me with the below excerpt, but the plotline and characters are 100% mine)
From [name_m]August[/name_m] 11th 2025 [name_m]New[/name_m] Book 1
“Bane,” Blight’s voice cut through his reverie, sharper than he expected. He looked up, startled, as she unfurled the note, her expression shifting from curiosity to something more guarded. “We have an invitation.”
“An invitation?” he echoed, his brow furrowing. “From who?”
Blight’s gaze was fixed on the note, her blue eyes narrowing as if to decipher patterns in the ink. “The mayor. He would like to meet with us. Tomorrow.”
“What’s a ‘mayor’?” [name_m]Bane[/name_m] asked, tilting his head slightly.
“The leader of this city,” Blight replied. “A meeting with him could help our cause here, if we go about it right.”
“What do you think he wants?” [name_m]Bane[/name_m] inquired, leaning forward slightly in the armchair, his weariness temporarily forgotten. Although the applause still echoed in his ears, the prospect of meeting someone in power shifted his thoughts. Would this meeting solidify their standing, or would it unravel their delicate fabric of deception?
Blight, however, appeared unfazed by the uncertainty. [name_f]She[/name_f] waved the note lightly as if it were a talisman of fortune. “The mayor seeks to align himself with us. He knows that having the ‘heroes’ of Averford on his side is a good plan.”
[name_m]The[/name_m] mayor’s invitation hung in the air between them, its implications buzzing with potential like static before a storm. [name_m]Bane[/name_m] felt a flicker of excitement mixed with anxiety. He had played the hero today, but the specter of his past loomed just behind him, whispering doubts about his worthiness. Could he stand in front of someone with real power and maintain the facade Blight had so expertly crafted?
