Anthea vs Athena

Which one is better?

[name_f]Athena[/name_f] feels more magical and adventurous, and it’s got a mythological connection.

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] has always been a sleeper favorite of mine. I like [name_f]Athena[/name_f] as well, but it strikes me as a little warrior-princess.

I’ve just spent five minutes working through this. I think I prefer [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] (or [name_f]Antheia[/name_f]).

[name_m]Both[/name_m] names have merits. [name_f]Athena[/name_f]'s mythological connection is quite fantastic.
But [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] with her delicate flowery meaning, floral mythological connection as one of the Graces and the goddess of flowers and flowery wreaths, and the possibility of using the all too common but very dear [name_f]Anna[/name_f] ([name_f]Annie[/name_f]) as a nickname trumps that for me. [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] feels richer for some reason.

[name_m]Both[/name_m] are gorgeous.

[name_f]Athena[/name_f] is fantastic, one of the easiest to pronounce, spell and all around carry Greek names there is. She’s got spunk and strength and all of that good stuff. [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] gives the traditional sounds of [name_f]Ann[/name_f]- and [name_f]Thea[/name_f]- a really modern sound and added femininity (I prefer the name spelled [name_f]Antheia[/name_f] myself though).

I think I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] its strength!

[name_f]Athena[/name_f] by far.

Personally, I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f], as I think it has a gentler sound and the mythological connection is fantastic (goddess of wisdom :)). I am a huge Greek myth nerd though, so I am extremmely biased. I also love the nn [name_f]Athie[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. I think it’s really strong, yet beautiful for a girl.

I prefer [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. It feels softer to me. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Althea[/name_f] even more.

I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! By a landslide. It is so powerful & the connection with the goddess of war & wisdom is definitely something I would love for a daughter. It has an interesting cadence to it. The first time I met a little gorl named [name_f]Athena[/name_f] it totally made my day, I was so excited.
I don’t really care for [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] to be honest. I know they are similar, but when you lose the warrior goddess connection I feel like it loses a lot if its “cool factor”. Even though Anthea is associated with a goddess as well its too much of a girly one for me. I do like that with Anthea you could use nn Annie.

I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f]…the “nth” in [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] seems to flow less off the tongue

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]!! I’ve loved this name ever since reading E. [name_m]Nesbit[/name_m]'s Five Children and It. I also love all the things about it that pp dearest mentioned. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is still nice, but too connected to just one person–the goddess–and a little too “over-the-top” sounding to me.

I like [name_f]Athena[/name_f] in theory but it’s a bit too goddess-like for me to actually use. I love that [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] is similar while still being unique.

I pick [name_f]Athena[/name_f], for sure… [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] has a start similar to “[name_m]Anthony[/name_m]” to me which makes it feel harsh and masculine to me…

I love [name_f]Althea[/name_f] though which is in the same realm and another commenter suggested it but I wanted to chime in with my that too.

I prefer [name_f]Athena[/name_f]
