This name has been really into my mind recently.
What do you think of it? I prefer it to Antonia, but I like Antonia too.
Which of the two is better?
What do you think of them?
Thank you!
What middles would you pair to it?
I tend to like 2 middles, but one is fine too.
No frilly / feminissima names, though, like Annabella or Lily. I prefer names like Magda, Ofelia, Noor or Elsa.
They are both elegant, ballerina-esque names. They remind me of pale-pink brocade curtains, sunlight pouring in from the window, a view of the castle gardens lined with the prettiest blooms of the season and a marble stone fountain.
I slightly prefer [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] for that feel, though I don’t mind [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] for the same. I love the various nickname opportunities with these names.

They remind me of black and red, oppositely. More like a strong name than a frilly name. And I like that. No-nonsense names, actually, with a good meaning and a flair.

I much prefer the strong and elegant [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] just feels a little too frilly and perhaps a little juvenile to me, that extra n feels like a superfluous extra layer of fussiness. I like the [name_f]Nina[/name_f] diminutive though. That said, I like [name_f]Antonella[/name_f], which is probably more princessy in most peoples eyes because of that ubiquitous -ell / ella sound.
I’d probably pair something simple and soft which doesn’t end in an -a, for example [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].

I dislike [name_f]Antonella[/name_f] - where I live it is a somehow dated name. I picture a grandma.
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] feels maybe too strong, while [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] has the right balance? I like both though haha.
Thank you for your view though!

That’s fair enough! Each to their own

I like the balletic Antonina, and this speaks to me:
Antonia, it depends on the pn. If it’s ant-OH-nee-uh with greater emphasis on the ‘oh’ sound it feels more serious. If it’s AN-tuh-NEE-uh then it just reminds me of the Willa Cather book! More…dark academia somehow.

I like [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] better <3
I forgot about [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. Much lighter than my typical style but v. pretty.

I prefer [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] - elegant, strong and beautiful!! It’s got a literary vibe too!
[name_f]Antonina[/name_f] is nice, but I find it a tad tricky to say. Still, I think it could grow on me and I could get used to it, because it does have flair.
Out of interest, which pn of [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] do you use?
With [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], I’m thinking…
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_u]Marin[/name_u] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]

I’ve always been fond of [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] because of the book by [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Cather[/name_f] (another name - [name_f]Willa[/name_f] - that I love). [name_u]Strong[/name_u], fearless girl, with an old-timey and prairie feel to it. Really gorgeous with a ton of clarity rather than frill. Plus she can be [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or Tony/Toni. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Nina[/name_f], though it is more obvious with [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] of course (which is also a lovely name, but strikes me as less classic and less “new world” shall we say). This is one of my favorite names tbh.
I think a simple, one syllable middle works well with either name, like the suggestion above of Pearl; [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]May[/name_f]?

These suggestions are so good …

I’m blanking on middle suggestions but I love both of them equally and go back and forth on which is my favorite. The slighly sweeter vibes and potential to use [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname is currently making me lean towards [name_f]Antonina[/name_f].
