Any ideas?...last name is Nelson

Have any suggestions for boy or girl names that sound ok with [name]Nelson[/name]. Everything seems to rhyme and not sure about 1 or 2 syllable names. I like trendy or classic names for boys and tomboyish names for girls. Also, if you have any middle name ideas, that would be great too. Here are a few…

Girl Names

I think that you may be right about staying away from 1 syllable names . . . I know some [name]Nelson[/name] children, their names are [name]Breanne[/name] and [name]Brody[/name]. With the 2 syllables I think it flows pretty well. We’ll see what everybody else thinks though.

[name]Cash[/name] - Hmm, maybe not long enough? Kind of sounds like an old gangster nickname.
[name]Graham[/name] - Oh this sounds really good. The ‘M’ at the end keeps it from rhyming. [name]Graham[/name] [name]Cash[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Graham[/name] [name]Knox[/name] Nelon, [name]Graham[/name] [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]?
[name]Houston[/name] - I like this name but see what you mean about them sounding too similar at the end.
[name]Lake[/name] - [name]Lake[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] sounds a little like the name of a [name]Lake[/name] - recently another poster had [name]Lachlan[/name], what about that?
[name]Lincoln[/name] - Oh this is really nice too. [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]. [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Robert[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] - or how about [name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Cash[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]? I really like that.
[name]Maddox[/name] - I really do see how this is a cool name but just can’t seperate it in my head from Brangelina. If you can, go for it. [name]Maddox[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] works I think. [name]Maddox[/name] [name]Graham[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]? [name]Maddox[/name] [name]Sam[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]?
[name]Thierry[/name] - I am so bad a pronounciation, how do you say this?

My suggestions: [name]Brody[/name], [name]Brady[/name], [name]Campbell[/name] (has a lot of the same sound as [name]Cash[/name] but longer), [name]Jagger[/name], [name]Vince[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Casper[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Marco[/name] or [name]Marcus[/name]

[name]Bristol[/name] - Ok I know that a lot of people made fun of [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Palin[/name]'s kids names. But I am from the same area as she is and lots of people give kids names like that so I like a lot of them - including [name]Bristol[/name]. That being said, [name]Bristol[/name] is kind of one of those names that is so tied to one person. Here are some names that I heard a lot growing up that have that same vibe to me: Girls - [name]Denali[/name], [name]McKinley[/name], [name]Trinity[/name], [name]Leilani[/name], [name]Aurora[/name] Boys: [name]Elias[/name], [name]Dawson[/name], [name]Hunter[/name], [name]Skyler[/name] (maybe better for a girl though), [name]Chauncy[/name]. Or maybe you would like one of the names of a lesser known [name]Palin[/name] - [name]Willow[/name] or [name]Piper[/name].
[name]Greer[/name] - This is pretty and goes nicely with [name]Nelson[/name]. [name]Greer[/name] [name]Willow[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Greer[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Nelson[/name].
[name]Ireland[/name] - Hmm
[name]Lake[/name] - Same problem as above, for a boy.
[name]Landry[/name] - This sure sounds a lot like Laundry the way I am saying it
[name]Piper[/name] - Oh you already have [name]Piper[/name]. Good one, I think! [name]Piper[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Piper[/name] [name]Bella[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Piper[/name] [name]June[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Piper[/name] [name]Brynn[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]?
[name]Presley[/name] - Definently works with [name]Nelson[/name]. [name]Presley[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], [name]Presley[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]
[name]Salem[/name] - too [name]Salem[/name] witch trials for me. What about [name]Salome[/name]?

My girl suggestions: [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Scout[/name], [name]Marlo[/name], [name]Marley[/name], [name]Harlow[/name], [name]Harper[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Devan[/name], [name]Sage[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] this helped!! I’m sure you will find something beautiful

EDITED TO [name]ADD[/name]: [name]Tasha[/name] for a girl.

[name]Hi[/name] there! With [name]Nelson[/name], I’d recommend staying away from first names that end in an “in” sound, because like you said, the first and last names end in the same sound.

Boy Names
[name]Cash[/name]: I think [name]Cash[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] goes nicely, but what about [name]Cassius[/name]. It’s longer, and still gives you [name]Cash[/name].

[name]Graham[/name]: I think [name]Graham[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] sounds great. [name]Just[/name] be sure to use a longer middle name. ([name]Graham[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], for example.)

[name]Houston[/name]: I’m not a fan of [name]Houston[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] (same ending sound).

[name]Knox[/name]: I personally don’t like the alliteration of [name]Knox[/name] [name]Nelson[/name]. If you’re looking for an x name, what about [name]Felix[/name], [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], or [name]Dexter[/name]?

[name]Lake[/name]: As [name]Smitty[/name] said, [name]Lake[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] sounds like the name of an actual lake.

[name]Landon[/name]: [name]Landon[/name] doesn’t work with [name]Nelson[/name]…

[name]Lincoln[/name]: [name]Lincoln[/name], in my opinion, also doesn’t work with [name]Nelson[/name], because they both two syllables and end with the same sound. What about [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Luke[/name]?

[name]Maddox[/name]: I think it works with [name]Nelson[/name], but it’s too much of a Brangelina name for me.

[name]Talon[/name]: Not a fan of [name]Talon[/name]… What about [name]Hunter[/name]?

[name]Thierry[/name]: I think you’ll have pronunciation problems with this one. What about using an English version of the name or the name [name]Tierney[/name] (althoug it’s pretty N heavy with [name]Nelson[/name])?

Boy ideas:

[name]Dashiell[/name] (the I is silent)

Girl Names:

[name]Bristol[/name]: [name]Bristol[/name] is all [name]Palin[/name] to me, but if that’s a good thing for you, go for it!

[name]Greer[/name]: [name]Greer[/name] is lovely!

[name]Ireland[/name]: [name]Ireland[/name] doesn’t work with [name]Nelson[/name], but a lot of your names do. :- )

[name]Lake[/name]: See boys’ [name]Lake[/name] issue.

[name]Landry[/name]: This honestly looks like a typo of Laundry.

[name]Peyton[/name]: [name]Peyton[/name] doesn’t work with [name]Nelson[/name] because of the ending…

[name]Piper[/name]: [name]Piper[/name] sounds great with [name]Nelson[/name].

[name]Presley[/name]: I’m not a fan of [name]Presley[/name], but it works with [name]Nelson[/name].

[name]Salem[/name]: I wouldn’t name a little girl after a town known for horrific witch trials and black cats. I think it’s also a brand of cigarettes. :frowning:

[name]Sutton[/name]: [name]Sutton[/name] doesn’t work with [name]Nelson[/name], either. :frowning:

Tomboyish and place names for girls:
[name]Isla[/name] (eye-la)

Of your girl choices, I vote for [name]Piper[/name] [name]Nelson[/name], and of your boy choices, I vote for [name]Graham[/name] or [name]Cash[/name].

Good luck!

[name]Susan[/name] as usual has some fantastic ideas. I have to say I prefer 3 syllable names with your 2 syllable last name. I think 3-1-2 is a great rhythm. That said, I have a two syllable last name and gave all three of my children two syllable first names!

Thanks, [name]Pam[/name]! I love two syllable names myself, and we have a two syllable last name. I love the 2-3-2 and the 2-4-2 rhythm myself. Two syllable names are so practical. I think five letter names are really fun. [name]Just[/name] long enough, not too long, an odd number of letters. But I also really love four and six letter names. I just love really long middle names!

Thanks so much for all of your ideas! I am in the process of revamping my list to include your suggestions. [name]Will[/name] re-post soon for more help. Thanks again : )

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Phineas[/name]!!! See what you think about my new list. I incorporated [name]Phineas[/name] as a middle name for [name]Sayer[/name], but now I am loving it for a first name. What do you think of [name]Sayer[/name] [name]Phineas[/name]? Boy or Girl?

I just replied to your other thread…
