ok, but [name_f]Jenevieve[/name_f] looks way cooler than [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
I thought for around 10 years that it was Jeneveveā¦
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - still have to double check to this day!
[name_f]Madelief[/name_f] took me a long time (even though I adore her now), and Tadhg⦠love him so much but the h and g switch throws me every time
Any variation of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], McKenzie, etc. ā any of the names that are pretty common, but that have a lot of spelling variations that are all used. It takes a while to remember whose name is spelled which way!
Iām here to help you feel justified! I know someone with the last name of Carlyle spelled that way! So you are probably totally justified in thinking that way, and maybe you were exposed to that spelling first
Ditto! I used to look after an [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], so it was essential I learn how to spell her name, but it did take some time. Later, when I joined NB, I had to learn it all over again! Most [name_u]Irish[/name_u] names I have to double check, itās only really [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] Iāve mastered as they are favourites.
Also concurring with @rosefairiieās [name_f]Aurembiaix[/name_f].
Others: [name_f]Leire[/name_f], [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] (I constantly forget spellings and pronunciations of this one) and Douglas/Douglass, Liesel/Liesel ā which one is the original spelling? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they have a generally agreed on original spelling? Have to check every time.
Giunivere [name_f]Guinivere[/name_f] Giunevere [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
This one too!! It doesnāt help that my boss is spelled [name_f]Guenevere[/name_f], so thatās become my defaultā¦
Someone else has already mentioned this, but [name_u]Irish[/name_u] names. They make no sense to me, and I always internally roll my eyes whenever I meet someone in my country (USA) with one of these crazy [name_u]Irish[/name_u] names. In the end, they sound great, but the spelling is just a mess of jumbled, soundless letters.
One more that I just encountered - no matter how many times I see or type this name, I will never learn to spell [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] right on the first try
I used to spell [name_m]Jorge[/name_m] as Horhay and I even spelled it that way on a school essay
It took me an embarrassingly long time (I think I was about 15) to learn that Horehay was [name_m]Jorge[/name_m], and Hey-zeus was [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]. I heard the names aloud, and seen them written down, but I didnāt connect the spoken forms to the written ones.
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is another name that often tripped me up.
