A family from my church are expecting their fourth child after [name]Christmas[/name] and were puzzling over names at a recent meeting, so I told them about Nameberry and said I would ask for suggestions from all of you lovely people.
Their three older children are [name]Oona[/name], [name]Esme[/name] and [name]Otto[/name], and they won’t know the gender of the baby until the birth.
We live in [name]England[/name] and they have Irish roots, although it is not important to them to honour those roots. They would like to avoid another [name]German[/name] name, or one beginning in E or O.
They would prefer a two-syllable name ending in a vowel sound.
Any suggestions? Currently they are considering [name]Sorcha[/name] (for a girl) and [name]Hugo[/name] (for a boy). The last time I mentioned the name [name]Hugo[/name] to an American I recieved a very strange look, so I feel I should mention that it is a perfectly ordinary name over here (in fact, I know three)!
I’m American and I adore the name [name]Hugo[/name]
As for name ideas, I know its very popular where you are, but [name]Isla[/name] would definitely fit in that trio. More ideas that have not been mentioned:
[name]Esme[/name], [name]Otto[/name] and [name]Oona[/name]
[name]Sorcha[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] are wonderful names!

Thank you all very much! I put your suggestions to them today, and they loved several of them! (Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately as it means that I could use them in the future, they couldn’t be swayed to three of my favourites, [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Luna[/name] and [name]Selah[/name].)
Their list, as it stands, now looks like this :
Boys :
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Louis[/name]

They will probably take a selection of names with them to the birth, and decide once they have seen him/her - of course, I will keep you all updated!
[name]Just[/name] for interest’s sake, the middle names are fixed, and they are not worried about the flow of the names - it will be [name]James[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]/[name]Patrick[/name] [name]James[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Louisa[/name], depending on the fn picked. They are all family names, I believe.
