Anya or Anna?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], berries! I’ve been looking around the site for a couple of months and now I decided to join and ask for your help! I can’t seem to pick between to of my favorite - and extremely similar - names and my husband already gave up trying to help me, he says he’s good with any of them, so I kinda need your help with my very indecisive self. Would you go with [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] Lehl or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-na) [name_f]Louise[/name_f] Lehl? I realise some people have trouble with the last name, at least in my experience, and it’s pronounced lail. I really love the combination of both [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] but her middle name is not gonna be heard often so I need help sorting out which sounds better, [name_f]Anya[/name_f] Lehl or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Lehl.

I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I like that it is classic but still has a bit of drama. If I saw the name written, I would pronounce it AE-nuh like in “can” or “pan.” I’m in the US, and here I think you would get the [name_m]AH[/name_m] pronunciation more easily with the [name_f]Ana[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] doesn’t do anything for me. I knew an [name_f]Anya[/name_f] and had a friend who made a lot of “on ya” jokes that kind of ruined it for me.

[name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I would spell it [name_f]Aine[/name_f] though. It’s much harder to pronounce but I think [name_f]Anya[/name_f] cheapens it. Although I’m probably just biased because I know an [name_f]Aine[/name_f].
Btw I think most people will say [name_f]Anna[/name_f] at first glance, the “a” as in can or pan.

[name_f]Anya[/name_f] is Russian pet form of [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I personally prefer [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Anya[/name_f] Lehn, because [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Lehn make annalehn and annalouise association.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is just so classic and gorgeous! I’d go with [name_f]Anna[/name_f], then you can always nickname her [name_f]Anya[/name_f] if you like and get the best of both worlds.

I’m on team [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name, and you can always call her [name_f]Anna[/name_f] OR [name_f]Anya[/name_f], or both! I’ve never really gotten into [name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Anja[/name_f] myself, so [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would be my preference in general, but [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is a very lovely name, objectively!

All the best!

I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a name that’s grown on me lately! I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is a super cute name.

I live in the US and I’ve known multiple Annas that pronounce it with the a in Can. I prefer the way you pronounce it though, so it’s usually how I say it!

I like [name_f]Anya[/name_f] much better as I know soooo many Annas!

Team [name_f]Anna[/name_f]!

I do pronounce [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as “ann-nuh” but the [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in Frozen is “Aw-nuh” so it can go both ways.

It’s close, but I prefer [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Anna[/name_f], so as PP said you could have it both ways.

I quite like both, but I think my preference is [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. FWIW I think you could definitely manage that pronunciation with this spelling – I knew an [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-na who spelled it [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and it’s a pretty simple correction compared to other names. I also prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. No matter what you end up with you have a lovely name!

Definitely [name_f]Anya[/name_f]! So much more interesting in my opinion.

I agree that you can name her [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and have a nickname [name_f]Anya[/name_f] but [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is just so gorgeous! Plus [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is way more unique than common [name_f]Anna[/name_f], in my opinion.

Oh that is a difficult one but I would have to say [name_f]Anya[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Anya[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Anya[/name_f]! That would be my pick.

They have a very similar sound but the feel of them it totally different: [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is spunky and cool whereas [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is classic and chic. Both are gorgeous!

But I think I would go with [name_f]Anya[/name_f], it isn’t as popular as [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and I think it sounds better with your surname.

I love both but, it depends on the feel you want. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a classic beauty whereas [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is modern cool.

I think they’re both lovely and work equally well so if you have a gut feeling I think you should go with what you love most. For me, I prefer [name_f]Anya[/name_f] because I grew up at a time when [name_f]Anna[/name_f] was very popular so [name_f]Anya[/name_f] feels more exciting and unusual.
