I’m not sure if the calendar of events adds up but I’m confused and hoping you experienced mommies and TTCers can help me out.
I started my period around [name_f]July[/name_f] 17 and it was done around [name_f]July[/name_f] 24. Around 12/1am on [name_f]July[/name_f] 27, my husband and I had intercourse and used the “pull out” method. We had intercourse again using that same method on [name_f]July[/name_f] 30. Two days later on Aug 1, I had some pinkish spotting when I wiped a few times. We had intercourse again after that, but used a condom. The evening of Aug 5 (it was late so could’ve gone into morning of Aug 6), I suddenly had some pretty intense cramping and some lower back pain. When I went to use the bathroom, there was one spot of red which looked like either mixed with some mucus or it was a little clot, but it wasn’t very big (maybe penny size). That was it. After a couple of hours, the cramps went away and I’ve had nothing since. The other strange thing is that a couple of days ago, I suddenly got some very dry skin between my breasts…?
So, what does this sound like to you? I know the “pull out” method isn’t full proof as when we were in our mid-20’s we got pregnant using that method (ended in miscarriage at 11 wks). However, that was after using it for over a year and I know a few other couples that have used it for years without getting pregnant so I don’t know. I HAVE experienced implantation bleeding before (with the first that ended in miscarriage) but it lasted for a few days and was more like a lighter period. I also have experienced occasional ovulation bleeding (pinkish when wipe) but not very often. So I don’t know if these sound like ovulation bleeding followed by implantation or if maybe something weird is just going on with my body. I know I just have to “wait and see,” but if the dates of our intercourse and other things don’t really make a whole lot of sense, then I would like to make an appt with my doctor ASAP to figure out what’s going on if pregnancy isn’t likely. Last time I was pregnant with my daughter, I got the dry skin between my breasts but I don’t recall it this early.
Any insight or knowledge you can share would be greatly appreciated.
I would schedule an appointment with your OBGYN to see whats going on. Or did you take a pregnancy test? It could have been just old blood up in there coming out along with tissue from your uterine wall. I will be honest with you I just found out we lost our baby. Either to MC or EP they didn’t know so I had to get a shot to ensure I was not at risk. But I had blood and goop almost like mucus. But a lot of it. I bled for 3 days at the exact same time everyday. Turned out it was a MC so either your body had one or it could just be some left over stuff. Maybe contact your doctor so he you could get a professionals opinion. I am not sure which it could be but your symptoms sound like how mine were, intense cramping and lower back pain along with blood and mucus gooey stuff.
Not sure if this really helped but just contact your OB. They know better than us! Good luck.
Thank you so much for responding and I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I have also suffered a miscarriage before; it was several years ago now but it was so devastating. My period isn’t even due until next Tues/Wed so I doubt it’d be a miscarriage this early. I guess it could be a chemical pregnancy (lose baby prior to first missed period), but I would think there’d be way more blood and cramping; I only had one spot and some cramping and that was it. When I had a miscarriage, I had brown mucus and blood for over a week and that was when I was already 9 weeks along.
The thing is, I don’t have a doctor where I live now so it’s not so easy to just ring someone up to ask. Regardless, I should call and make an appointment with someone soon. I just wanted to know if any experienced ladies had some knowledge or personal experiences that could give me some insight in the meantime.
Not a problem, If you have a local hospital or Urgent care they will see you as well, I don’t know if you are in the US or not but a hospital should be able to help you or I am sure any OBGYN could see you.
That could of been it to or it could of been ovulation bleeding like you had mentioned? [name_m]Just[/name_m] keep a look out for anything changing. I appreciate the kind words I experienced the same thing, intense cramps and mix between red/brown blood heavy flow. I definitely would just to make sure everything is okay in there or they may say it was just a freak thing this time around. I personally havent had the bleeding before my period or a one time spot of blood happening. But just try to stay relaxed and see if anything changes like I said before. Then go from there.
I think your timing adds up to possible implantation bleeding. Assuming your cycles are 28 days, your next period is due on [name_u]August[/name_u] 14 and implantation would occur approximately one week prior to your period being due. So, yeah, you could be pregnant. Especially if the dry skin was a symptom last time. I’d wait until your period is due and take a pregnancy test. I don’t think a miscarriage or a chemical pregnancy would show symptoms this early, so I’d say it’s more likely to be implantation bleeding, especially since your timeline adds up.
@sarah- I thought they normally said implantation bleeding occurs either right on your period thats why people mistake it for a period then it stops, they take a test and see is positive or 7-14 days after? That is why I thought I was experiencing implantation bleeding. But wasn’t. I have never of heard it happening before your expected period. But I agree with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] def. take a test if nothing shows up.
Implantation bleeding does normally happen a week or so prior to an expected period, but for women with irregular cycles it could be mistaken for an early period. I had implantation bleeding this past February (I ultimately lost the baby in [name_f]April[/name_f]) which I initially mistook for a period - I was only a few days “early”. When it ended too soon, I took a test and it was negative because of course it was too soon and apparently my cycle was a little different that month. Two weeks later when I didn’t have any fertile signs I took a pregnancy test which was positive instantaneously.
@scarletsway - Implantation bleeding happens when the egg implants into the uterus wall, which usually occurs a week before your period, but can happen at different times depending on the length of your cycles and the amount of time it takes for the egg to travel down the fallopian tubes and into the uterus (average is about a week).
