Anyone watch Pregnant in Heels last night?

An expectant couple had a focus group and a think tank with a panel of experts to help them come up with the “perfect” boy name. They picked [name]Bowen[/name] - far from perfect if you ask me. They wanted a name that was easy to spell, not too common and didn’t start with a J among other criteria. [name]Bowen[/name]'s sisters are named [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. I think the couple should have come to Nameberry. We could have done better than that!

I watched! I think they assumed everyone would love [name]Bowen[/name]–and when no one did like the name they decided they were ahead of the curve. I think it is pretty awful. Especially when there is a perfectly elegant way of getting the nn [name]Beau[/name].

I liked the focus group (and the friends) choice of [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Holden[/name]. Heck, I would have chosen [name]Bode[/name] over [name]Bowen[/name].

That show is like crack. I can’t believe people act like that, but I can’t look away!

I haven’t seen it, but… [name]Bowen[/name]? All I can think of is [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Bowen[/name]. Yeah, it’s not the absolute worst name out there, but it’s pretty close. That, and it seems so mismatched with [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name].

I watched a clip of it, but I didn’t see the final choice. [name]Bowen[/name]? Was there some family connection to the name? I’m sorry, but I really don’t get the random surname thing. I know these people were looking for ‘high class’ names, and usurping surnames just seems so tacky to me. Not to mention that it’s the name of [name]Drew[/name] Brees’s son, who also has a Baylen. :? I have a friend who named her son [name]Bowen[/name] after her maiden name and I would be so annoyed if I were her.

I didn’t see it, but seriously- how do you actually spend money to get experts to weigh in on names, and not realize that [name]Bowen[/name] is perhaps one of the trendiest non-[name]Aidan[/name] choices you can make? I mean it’s not a horrendous name, it’s fine, but it baffles me that these parents would actually hire people and end up with [name]Bowen[/name]. I guess I’m just confused at the concept of hiring a panel to do what you could do yourself with a minimal amount of research. Oh well. If they love it, I guess it is the right name for them.

I really like [name]Bowen[/name]. It’s newish without being strange or weird. I’d group it with the [name]Owen[/name], [name]Beau[/name], [name]Brody[/name] Family.
I also think it goes well with [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. I met a little boy named [name]Bowen[/name] when I was pregnant with my son. He was an adorable little 2 yr old at the time.

I like [name]Bowen[/name]. It’s not the first time I’ve heard it. I met a little baby boy named [name]Bowen[/name] not too long ago. [name]Drew[/name] Brees and his wife also named their son [name]Bowen[/name]. I think it’s unique, but not too out there.

Everyone’s idea of perfect is going to be different. So if it’s “perfect” to them, that’s all that matters.

I should clarify–[name]Bowen[/name] isn’t the worst name ever. In fact, it looks fairly appealing (not crazy about how it sounds.) However, these people made a point that they wanted to pick the perfect “branding” (their word, not mine) for their child. Their description included classy and presidential. When presented with a group of successful people, they chose to pretend that they were idiots rather than accept that gasp some people don’t like certain names.

I’m still more disturbed by the couple who wouldn’t deal with the impending baby–no nursery, no baby colors, no stroller. Weird.

Noun: A unique person or thing.
Adjective: Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else

[name]Bowen[/name] is -not- a unique name. The word unique is thrown around so much these days, it’s lost most of it’s meaning.

[name]Bowen[/name] is unusual - but not unique.

I personally don’t like it, but I dislike many surname-y names, so I’m going to have to go with a ‘NMSAA’ comment. It’s not surprising they went with a trendy name though, [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] are pretty trendy too at the moment.
