Apolline...?

[name]Apolline[/name] with the NN [name]Polly[/name] has been on my mind a lot recently. It’s one of my recent name crushes and I have a few questions.

  1. how would you pronounce the name?

  2. [name]Do[/name] you think it would be a good sibling name for our daughter, Senia?

and finally, 3) [name]Do[/name] you think it is usable?

Thank you all in advance.

ah-poh-LEEN (long O as in doe or row)

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce Senia? I like that both names are unique. And yes, I totally think [name]Apolline[/name] is usable!

^same pronunciation [name]Ah[/name]-[name]Poe[/name]-leen
Yes it goes with Senia
Yes it is usable!!

Thanks for the feedback!

I’m glad to hear that you both think it is usable! My husband is pretty worried about how it would work in real life, but I’m hoping I can convince him

  1. how would you pronounce the name? Ap-o-leen

  2. [name]Do[/name] you think it would be a good sibling name for our daughter, Senia? Yes!

and finally, 3) [name]Do[/name] you think it is usable? Yes, I love it. It’s unusual but easy to prn. with a great nn option!

  1. Beautiful name. I’d say it ah-poh-leen

  2. Yes, I think they both have an uncommon but feminine feel, which will connect them.

  3. I agree with the previous poster. It’s not something you hear alot but wouldn’t be difficult for people to figure out.

  1. I’ve always said ah-pol-LEEN, with the beginning like how I say [name]Apollo[/name]. I can’t hear a ‘poe’ sound in either

  2. Yes, they’re both mysterious and beautiful

  3. Yes. It’s gorgeous- I’d love to meet an [name]Apolline[/name]!

I love [name]Apolline[/name]! It’s my top choice right now, for a girl.

I think [name]Polly[/name] is exceptionally usable.
[name]Apolline[/name] is a bit unorthodox, but I think it’s pretty and goes wonderfully with Senia.
I say go for it!

Thanks for the great comments! [name]Will[/name] definitely be adding it to the list, DH said he’s warming up to it!

I think its one of those names you have to “swallow” and mull over a bit, but once you’ve heard it a few times its a darling name! [name]Polly[/name] and Senia are adorable together imo!

[name]Ah[/name]-poe-[name]LINE[/name]

Senia and [name]Apolline[/name] are fine. And seems perfectly usable to me.

I pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-poh-LEEN. I think it’s usable but I find it loses a lot of its appeal when pronounced with an American accent; it sort of sounds like you’re saying “a [name]Pauline[/name]”. I actually think [name]Paulina[/name] would work better if you are in the US, and you could still use the nickname [name]Polly[/name].

Thanks for the replies! Luckily, I’m not in the US so their pronunciation shouldn’t cause any problems as we don’t have any plans to move to the US and we don’t know any Americans either.

I would pronounce it as [name]AH[/name]-paul-een

I love it, and I think that although it is unusual, it is pretty easy to figure out how to pronounce. [name]Ah[/name]-pol-ine is how I would say it.

  1. App-OH-Leen

  2. Appolline is a beautiful name and I think it works well with Senia

  3. Very useable. I’ve met two Appollines in my life and I think it is a beautiful name.

The two Appollines in my life use ‘[name]Apple[/name]’ as a nickname. I think [name]Polly[/name] or [name]Poe[/name] are also nice nicknames for Appolline.

1.) App-oh-leen
2.) Yes, but to be honest I think [name]Apolline[/name] goes much better with Senia than [name]Polly[/name] does.
3.) Yes, definitely usable. Prefer the nn [name]Apple[/name]. =]

I think [name]Apolline[/name] is gorgeous! [name]One[/name] of my favourite girl names is [name]Apolline[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
It goes beautifully with Senia - both are unusual but still very useable and feminine
I’d definitely use it. It’s easy to pronounce - I pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-poh-leen - and reasonably easy to spell as well
