I discovered this name in a fanfiction recently and I really like it- it certainly seems to blend in with my latest loves of Zosime, Mirei, Vivendel, etc. however, when I googled it all it came up with was some sort of goddess of chaos and destruction, which I think may have been a character from a book but I really have no idea!
I certainly have never heard of a Greek goddess called Apollymi, but I may be wrong.
Anyone have information on this name? Is it a feminisation of [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]? Thanks to anyone who replies! I’m really curious!
To the best of my knowledge, it’s just a made up name. A little Google search of my own brought up the [name_f]Sherrilyn[/name_f] [name_m]Kenyon[/name_m] books. I haven’t read them, but from what I can glean from the wiki pages, they’re loosely based off of Greek mythology.
A little more digging and I found that the word apollymi does exist in Greek, and it means “to destroy”. [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is apparently derived from this word as a root, so I don’t think I’d classify it as a feminine version. More like a word that someone thought sounded cool as a name. Anyway, I don’t speak Greek, so anyone who knows better, feel free to correct me.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m] thanks @vestigesofsummer! That definitely clears it up- I don’t think I’ll use it, the meaning ‘to destroy’ isn’t very appealing lol
