April all year round?

Can [name_f]April[/name_f] only be used for babies born in [name_f]April[/name_f]? I love the name but I’m worried she would spend her life explaining her birthday was at another time of year. What does everyone think?

I don’t see it as an issue at all. It doesn’t take long to say what your birthday is. Regardless of our names, we all have to do that. There are plenty of girls called [name_u]June[/name_u] that weren’t born in [name_u]June[/name_u], plenty of girls called [name_f]Summer[/name_f] that weren’t born in summer, and so on. So I think it’s fine

I actually think it’s better if [name_f]April[/name_f] is not born in [name_f]April[/name_f].

I wouldn’t worry. [name_f]April[/name_f] is well known as a name, not always associated with the month. I wouldn’t be surprised to meet a child names [name_f]April[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Summer[/name_f]/[name_f]Autumn[/name_f] who wasn’t born in that time of year.

When it comes to month, season, or day names, I much prefer if they’re given to kids who aren’t born then.

I have a month name and wasn’t born in that month. It’s never been an issue

As a kid, other kids would ask me (when they first heard my name) if I was born in that month, I would tell them no, and they would say okay. It’s not a lasting topic of conversation, so I wouldn’t worry!

[name_f]April[/name_f] is gorgeous btw!

This. But really, it doesn’t matter which month she’s born in. It’s a pretty name and should be used more, regardless of birth month!

My SO is named [name_u]August[/name_u] (he was born in [name_u]June[/name_u]) and happens to find it really annoying that every person he meets asks him if he was born in [name_u]August[/name_u]. To me, I think his name is beautiful and that’s why it’s getting so popular all of a sudden! I also have a friend named [name_f]Summer[/name_f] who gets a lot of weird name related humor thrown at her. It’s something that requires patience for unoriginal jokes, especially because the names of months are one of the first things they teach you in school! [name_f]April[/name_f] is a beautiful name though. Would you use it in the middle?

I agree with pp who prefer month names when the child isn’t being named after the month that they were born. I also really like [name_f]April[/name_f].

I agree with PPs, I think it’s incredibly cheesy for a girl born in [name_f]April[/name_f] to be named [name_f]April[/name_f]. Then the name just seems like a joke.

I love [name_f]April[/name_f].
Honestly, I have so many friends called [name_f]Mei[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], or other variations of it and I never even considered whether they are born in the same month.
Sure, kids and adults may ask but then a simple “no, my birthday is in X” would be the end of it.

And if there is a concern about possible teasing, there are so many worse things to teased about than the fact that the name is also the name of a month. Particularly seeing as the name is quickly gaining popularity. My first thought upon hearing it is generally more of a “cool, pretty name” than anything else.

To be quite honest, I don’t think you can entirely rule out teasing for any name. Maybe I’m just cynical - but I think children can be awfully cruel and if it’s not the name they make fun of, they’ll find something else.

I really like [name_f]April[/name_f].

I have had two good friends named [name_f]April[/name_f]. Both of them were born in [name_f]April[/name_f]. One was born in the 90s, and her parents had picked [name_f]April[/name_f] for a girl before she was conceived, so the timing of her birth was a coincidence. The other I’m not sure about, but she was born in the 70s, when [name_f]April[/name_f] was peaking in popularity, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they would have used [name_f]April[/name_f] no matter when she was born.

Ultimately, no, I don’t think it’s odd to name a child after a season, month, or day that has nothing to do with the time of their birth.

I had a friend named [name_f]April[/name_f] growing up who was born in [name_u]July[/name_u]. I can honestly say yes that it never occurred to me that it would be weird. I say it is absolutely fine to use [name_f]April[/name_f] all year long. My favorite name for a girl right now is [name_u]June[/name_u] and I would use it even if she was born in [name_u]June[/name_u].

An [name_f]April[/name_f] does not need to be born in [name_f]April[/name_f].

Any month can work for any child!
