Aprilka?

Hey all!!

I was thinking about this lovely name earlier when I tried to search for it (both on and off nameberry) and… nothing!! There are very few mentions of it on the internet at all, and everything on it is pretty old and sparse

However, this is like my own personal mandela effect, as I’m sure I saw someone on here talking about it before!! If anyone knows who it is, please tell me because I’m feeling like I’m losing my mind :sob:

Anyways  Thoughts on Aprilka? (pn ah-PRIL-kuh) Vibes you get from her? Does she go with other names on my list? I’d love to hear any and all thoughts!!

Thank you so much!!

I feel like that was prooobably me! :yellow_heart: I would’ve used the Áprilka spelling, so that’s probably why you couldn’t find mentions of it, but it was my NOTD sometime last month! It definitely makes it harder trying to search for information on it without the special character :sob: I don’t have much information on it, but it’s rare Hungarian name meaning ‘April’, originating from the Hungarian equivalent of the word! I can confirm that it’s legitimate, you can find it on the list of registrable names by the Hungarian Institute of Linguistics if you really go digging! It is traditionally pronounced differently than how you described it, more AH-pril-kah than ah-PRIL-kah – you can find a voice recording here!

Anyway, I really love the vibe and imagery that it has <3 It’s very spring-like to me (obviously, it has the word [name_f]April[/name_f] in it) but in a way that feels more youthful than [name_f]April[/name_f] itself !! It makes me think of a little girl in a yellow dress, with her hair tied in a ponytail with a pretty ribbon, riding her bicycle through the long grass and wildflowers to the outskirts of a little lake so she can feed the ducklings and enjoy the sun :blossom: I think it works with the names on your list !! I would describe your style as very eclectic with a lot of different inspirations and a lot of space for variety and all sorts of fun and unique names, which is one of the things I love about it!

That’s great - I definitely remember her with the accent now!! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to know I didn’t hallucinate her  and thank you for filling me in on the pronunciation!! It makes much more sense when she has the diacritic mark - so pretty!!

And yay thank you again!! [name_f]Love[/name_f] your description of her, and thank you so much for your lovely description of my list :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :green_heart:
