Arabelle, Arabella or just Belle?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
Really love [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] with the nickname “Belle”.
However, would it constantly be misinterpreted as [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]?
To add, I think I prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] as the full name, but I really don’t like [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is s much nicer.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys think, taking into account that I like [name_f]Belle[/name_f], don’t like [name_f]Bella[/name_f] but like both variants that [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] would be better suited?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] rather, just [name_f]Belle[/name_f] by itself?

Thank you!

I think you could do [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Belle[/name_f] if you wanted to. Seems like the best of both worlds!

I agree!
I also love [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Belle[/name_f], but [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is often unavoidable, and I wouldn’t really like her to go by [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or have other people call her that. So I think [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] is the better option!

I like [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Belle[/name_f] more than Arabella!!

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] just feels more humble to me, and I think she’s completely doable!!

I don’t think I’d go with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] if you don’t like [name_f]Bella[/name_f], I feel like that’s kind of a natural leap.

Thank you - that’s a good point. I am worried that [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] would get [name_f]Bella[/name_f] over [name_f]Belle[/name_f].

Thoughts on [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a standalone?

I also like [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a standalone! I know a girl named just [name_f]Belle[/name_f], and she wears it very nicely

If you don’t love [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f], I’d go with just [name_f]Belle[/name_f]! I think it’s substantial enough in its own right (sort of in the way that a name like [name_u]Marie[/name_u] or [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is substantial enough) and is a beautiful pick

I would just do [name_f]Belle[/name_f] by itself if you were planning on calling her “Belle”.

Thank you! I think [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is really beautiful: definitely feels like the epitome of short, elegant and highly feminine names for me.

Is [name_f]Belle[/name_f] alone professional enough sounding for jobs and professional stuff though? I think so, I’m just wondering.

Yes definitely!! Like I said, it reads like a spunky shorter name like [name_f]Faith[/name_f] or [name_f]May[/name_f], both of which I think sound professional and not too little kid-ish!

Look at bell hooks for example, if you’re worried about it not being professional enough

I like all [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Belle[/name_f], but I would probably go with [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] so you can have the nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] may not be as obvious with the nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f] and be more likely to get [name_f]Bella[/name_f] unless you let people know that her nickname is [name_f]Belle[/name_f].

I suggested [name_f]Belle[/name_f] to my bro and SIL for their (now 8 year old) daughter and it works perfectly! :ribbon:

I do prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - it rolls more easily off the tongue and [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] reminds me of ‘horrible’ (as some people where I am might half drop the h when saying it)
However, if you only want [name_f]Belle[/name_f], then [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] might be more practical - though personally, I’d go with just [name_f]Belle[/name_f]

I can hear that now regarding [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] - thank you for pointing that out!!

That’s lovely! Is it a standalone or a nickname?

Standalone, very elegant! [name_f]My[/name_f] recommendation!

[name_f]Belle[/name_f] is beautiful! I don’t think [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] would be confused for [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].
or… you could always have [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f], but that might get confused for [name_f]Bella[/name_f] because the original name ends in -bella.
But i also do like [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a standalone and I don’t think it needs a full name.

I agree with this:

I generally think it’s nice to use a longer name + nickname (rather than only the short form), so that there are more options later on.

Arabella is simply gorgeous, by the way! I prefer it to the now-ubiquitous Isabella.

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] would be a lovely pick, especially if you want the nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f].

I am really liking the name [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] another suggestion to get to the nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f].

Adding on to this, I love [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]! Someone might call her [name_f]Mira[/name_f], but it feels natural to call her [name_f]Belle[/name_f]!

Also, if this helps, back in primary school I knew kid named [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], but when he was enrolled in school his parents told the school to introduce him as [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], because that’s what he always went by. People knew that his name was [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], but no one called him [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. His name was just [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] to us. So if you wanted [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], or [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f], you could just tell her teachers and people she met that she goes by [name_f]Belle[/name_f], and I’m pretty sure that’s just what people would call her.

Unfortunately, I’d probably even call her [name_f]Mira[/name_f]! :joy:
Would probably alternate between the two however. [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is gorgeous!
