Are Arthur & Esther too similar for siblings?

What is says on the tin.

I adore both names, one is meaningful to our family and the other means a lot to me. I’m just worried about the double ‘er’ sound at the end. I’d appreciate your opinions!

Yes they are similar in sound a little tongue twistery but honestly I think both names are lovely and it’s not too similar. I also think if you call one child [name_m]Artie[/name_m] + [name_f]Essie[/name_f] it would take away the similarities.

Honestly, I like them together. They are very similar indeed but they feel totally distinct. Because they both mean a lot to you, I wouldn’t hesitate.

They are a bit similar, but I think it’s fine.
[name_f]My[/name_f] kids are Ar+hur, J@sper and !ris. Their names do get jumbled up sometimes but it’s not that big of a deal.

[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] to NB!

They’re more similar than I’d be willing to go. Esther’s other name is [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] in the Bible if that could be an alternative?

I love them together!!

Too close

Sometimes two names ending in ‘er’ sound way too alike, but in this case I think the names sound nice together. Go for it!!

I think they’re fine!

I don’t think they’re too similar, because the first sounds are different. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_f]Harper[/name_f] might be too much (because both the syllables are similar then), but [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] aren’t going to be confused with each other or feel like the same name. If they’re meaningful to you and you like them, you should use them.

These are beautiful together I think!!

I really like them together!

Waaay to close! I do love [name_f]Esther[/name_f] tho! I have one myself :purple_heart:

I think that they are very close, they could be fine. Especially if you called them [name_m]Artie[/name_m] + [name_f]Essie[/name_f] or [name_m]Art[/name_m] + [name_f]Esti[/name_f]

This is a very subjective thing but to me they’re different enough to use together. I think they’re more similar visually than they are phonetically which doesn’t bother me, the first syllable is distinct enough and the fact you don’t pronounce the ‘h’ in [name_f]Esther[/name_f] differentiates sufficiently. They’re very cute together! Offbeat classics.
