I’m going over my hypothetical baby names list (not pregnant or going to be for a very long time) and I think sisters named [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] would be so cute. However there is that len/lyn sound both names have and I’m just not sure they work out together anyway. I can imagine myself saying “Evelynore” while calling them over, you know?
Then again I pronounce the len/lyn in each name a little differently. [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] is the classic [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] sound whereas the “e” in [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] is a softer eh sound like the “e” in [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. I think a lot of people are bound to pronounce the len/lyn the same way though.
I don’t think they’re too similar at all! I understand the worry, but I’ve sat here thinking about it for a while and don’t find them too similar at all. In fact, I think they make such a lovely and elegant sibset!
I don’t think they’re too similar. I had to think for a second as to what they had in common before opening your post. IMO [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and another name ending in “-lyn” would be too similar; [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] would be too similar.
I guess if you had [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] first and called her [name_f]Leni[/name_f] or [name_u]Lyn[/name_u], [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] would seem too similar for her sister; other than that, no.
I was thinking the same thing! I like elegant, literature names so I thought they would work well together. Judging by everyone’s comments I think I am overthinking haha. Then again, I get the same way when siblings share a first initial too. Thank you!
I think that it’s only natural to overthink! But often if you don’t immediatley feel put off, there’s no reason to worry. Sometimes I think we feel that we need to overthink just because of the anxiety of making the wrong decision.
But this sibset is really gorgeous and timeless, I’d love to see you stick with it!
I don’t think [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sound similar at all. They sound very different and have very different letters to them. I think it’d make a great sibling pair!
Another option if you’re concerned would be something like [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] and [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] or [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] — with a LEEN or LYNE ending sound rather than LYN. I also think those really match [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] in elegance and style.
I think they work really well as sisters, and are not too similar! I understand what you see with the “lin” syllable, but they’re in different places and (in my accent) have slightly different sounds. To me that makes them match perfectly without being too alike.
I think the accent where I live makes the lyn/len sound identical which was my initial worry haha. I’m glad everyone thinks they sound nice together!! Thank you!
