Are my favorite names tongue twisters?

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite names are [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] but our surname is similar to ‘[name_f]Sun[/name_f]’ or ‘Sohn.’

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Sun[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Sohn
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_f]Sun[/name_f]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] Sohn

[name_f]Do[/name_f] these make for awkward names/ tongue twisters?

Your thoughts, please! Thank you in advance

They do not cause me any issue. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is very sweet and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is in my top 3.

They both work fine. I’m not a big fan of FN’s ending in the same letter that the LN starts in though - it tends to come out a bit slurry. So in the case of [name_m]Miles[/name_m] I get Milesohn - sounds like a Swedish LN or something.

I don’t think they’re tongue-twisters exactly, but I do find them rather unfortunately hissy and slurred because of the short, close-together “s” sounds… I would personally pair [name_f]Sun[/name_f]/Sohn with names that are either longer (more space between the “s” sounds) or don’t include an “s” sound. But that’s me. I’m also a frequent proponent of throwing the Name Rulebook out the window and saying, “Use what you love!”

Thank you all for your input! As much as I love these names, I think I agree with you, ellenelle, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] S. is a bit hissy and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] S. is a bit slurred… back to the drawing board!

I have realized that [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] are still my favorite names. I would love to hear others’ opinions about how they flow with our surname which is similar to [name_f]Sun[/name_f] or Sohn. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Sun[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Sohn, [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_f]Sun[/name_f], [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Sohn… Are they too hissy or slurred for you? Would you give them up and look for other names? I realized that my child would be in good company with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_m]Stone[/name_m] and [name_m]Myles[/name_m] Standish, however, I think the ‘t’ sound really helps those names (I’m jealous!).

If you can think of names that are similar in style, that might go well with our surname name, I would appreciate that too! I loved [name_f]Jane[/name_f] but our friends used it. I also love [name_m]Ian[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but, again, I’m worried about the flow. With our surname, I should probably go with longer names like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but they just don’t feel quite right. I really love the simplicity of a short, classic name without nicknames.

Sorry this is long! Thank you in advance!

I love the names, they’re adorable, but I agree with ellenelle. They are quite hissy and I would agree to a longer first name.
