Are Nathan and Jayden too close for twins?

With nns [name_m]Nate[/name_m] and [name_u]Jay[/name_u]
(For characters in a video game)

visually i think it’s fine but the full names do sound similar at the end. i would take into consideration how much they’ll be going by their nicknames vs their full names

you could always slightly modify one of the names - what about nathaniel “nate”?

As the mother of a [name_u]Raven[/name_u], yes, those are too close for siblings. She has cousins named [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] and it can be very confusing at times.

I’ve heard closer names - while they’re a bit similar for my tastes, they’re not unusable

I don’t think they are too close at all! Me and my siblings, as well as two of my cousins, have -an names (all two syllables!) It hasn’t caused problems.

No I think they are fine.

Not to me and I’m pretty staunchly against matchy twin names! [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] & [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] or [name_m]Kaydon[/name_m] & [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] etc would all be bad news for me. I can see the issue with a A and the ending being the same and the syllable count, but this is fine - they have different enough vibes to me.

[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] and [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] feels distinct enough to me. I come from a sibset that shares the ie/y ending and it never got confusing, so I think sharing the an/en ending is perfectly fine. I agree that if you did wanna separate them further though, [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is a great alternative to [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]!
