I am loving the name [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. I realize its pretty “out there”. Is it too out there? Is there anyone who has this name that loves it or hates it? Are there nicknames for it? Her middle name would be more “traditional” or “classic”.
I don’t find it too out there - it’s in the UK Top 300 and US Top 400 - but equally, I’ve worked with kids and teens for a while and have met Sunshines, Princesses, Honeys, Favours, Azaleas, [name_m]Storms[/name_m], Butterflys… so
It’s a sweet name, similar in sound to [name_f]Margot[/name_f], similar in vibe to [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
Some nicknames:
[name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_m]Moe[/name_m]?
[name_f]Dodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
or you could do something like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ‘MJ’
I don’t think it’s too out-there at all to be honest! I second what the previous poster said, about it being fairly established in the popularity lists of some countries. I’ve known people with more out-there names (I had a professor named Moon!) who wore them really well with no troubles. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] really reminds me of [name_f]Willow[/name_f] – obvious nature name with a cool -ow ending, so if [name_f]Willow[/name_f] can work, why not [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]? I think it’s a really beautiful name! [name_f]My[/name_f] go-to nickname would probably be Meadie (pronounced Meh-dee). Other than the previous suggestions, some other ideas could be [name_f]Em[/name_f] (the M initial), [name_f]Doe[/name_f] or [name_f]Momo[/name_f].
I know a teenaged Meadow. She has had no issue with her name. And at this point it’s fairly established as a name, so I wouldn’t consider it too out there.
Also fwiw names now a days are a little more ‘out there’ just generally speaking, so an out there name doesn’t stand out as much. I went to story time with my 3 yr old today. The group had kids named Lulu, Khaleesi, Lyra, Juniper, Bernadette & Pepper. And at least around here that’s pretty average.
As a nickname I would consider using Mae, Mimi and a little more out there Mitzi and Moe
Nickname idea: [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]
I’ve also known a teenaged [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]! I think it hits a sweet spot, especially for word names, of unusual but easily recognizable and quick to associate with a person.
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is such a sweet name. It feels very cottagecore to me but also a name anyone could make their own. I would probably use [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Mim[/name_f] as nicknames but definitely also [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] in full.
I’ve heard of it being used, I think its really pretty
m*rder mentioned (I watched to much true crime)
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is the name of one of the victims in the [name_m]Douglas[/name_m] High School shooting. she was a senior at the time. hearing how her friends and family talked about what a lovely person she was made me love the name
I saw it once on a kid’s baking championship contestant! [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] choice!!
We know 2 Meadows !
One goes by [name_m]Moe[/name_m] and the other is exclusively [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
I think it’s pretty familiar to a lot of people from The Sopranos character! The world has had a few decades now to sit with it and I don’t think it feels too out there
I know 1 Meadow, mid 20s, and it is their chosen name. They wear it very well and I’ve always thought it was the coolest name!
I’ve been thinking about it too!
Also, [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] in the same vein.
Are they too “90s”? I feel they are ready for their time again now.
I agree should be paired with traditional name. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Karine[/name_f]
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
I think so too! Lets make it happen
Also, love your name!
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is a magnificent name! It’s colorful, lively, sweet and peaceful. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] has a beautiful sound and a gorgeous association. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] has many cute nicknames that you may like. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are Meddy, [name_m]Mo[/name_m], [name_f]Doe[/name_f], [name_f]Dodo[/name_f] and Meme. I believe [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] suits a energetic girl who loves to run and dance, who lives in the countryside. But, [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is also a great choice for a quiet, gentle girl who loves literature, who plays music or adores sciences.
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is unexpected, but not too out there, in my opinion. It’s a stunning name!
i like meadow but thats due to the sopranos association. it is a pretty name but because of how famous that show is even 25 years later i think if it was used you may get a lot of sopranos comments.
