Are these too similar?

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom: [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] name: [name_f]Marisa[/name_f] [name_f]Leigh[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter: [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Mar[/name_f]en

Now I’m pregnant with a second girl and we’re considering the name [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] but I’m just hung up on this “Mar” theme and whether it’s like naming my daughter after myself (which I am NOT trying to do! Lol.)

Should I break the “M” cycle?! To be honest I do kind of want to but I just can’t find a name that I like more than [name_m]Marlow[/name_m]!

I don’t think these names are too similar! In part because I imagine you just call your daughter [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and will cal your second daughter [name_m]Marlow[/name_m]. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] are a great match, and I don’t think you need to break the M cycle.

I think it’s a lovely tradition (of both the [name_f]Mar[/name_f] and L theme) including where women typically give up their last name - why not have this connection? It’s not heavy handed especially where they’ll mostly be known for their first names and introduced separately anyway. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] (I have one) and Marlow(e)!

I don’t think they are too similar. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] sound great together! [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is a really nice combo and it is very distinct from your oldest daughter’s name. The fact that you all will share a name containing “Mar” is cute, in my opinion. I believe it is a sweet connection that not everyone will notice.

It’s a great choice

I don’t think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] are too similar. The “mar” in Willa’s middle name and Marlow’s first name could be a sweet connection between the two oldest sisters. If you ever had another daughter, you wouldn’t necessarily have to use another “mar” name! [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of families have two children with a “theme” that any subsequent children don’t follow!

I don’t think it’s bad. I actually think it’s kind of cute that your mother, you, and your daughter will all have different “Mar” names. But if you really want something with no [name_f]Mar[/name_f], I can offer:

Other -o/-ow ending names:
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Halo[/name_f]

Other surnamey girl names:
[name_f]Harper[/name_f], [name_f]Blair[/name_f], [name_f]Emery[/name_f], [name_f]Haley[/name_f]

Some other names that Nameberry said were similar to [name_m]Marlow[/name_m]:
[name_f]Waverly[/name_f], [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

Names listed as being similar to [name_f]Willa[/name_f]:
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

I might think [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] was a slight nod to [name_f]Marisa[/name_f] if it was pointed out, but if I just heard it, I wouldn’t think you’d named her after you.

Since you like [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] beyond the MAR- tradition, I’d say go for it

I actually adore this little subtle connection! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] & [name_m]Marlow[/name_m] make such sweet sisters.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] this subtle connection! Go for it

I think you should go with [name_m]Marlow[/name_m]! You love it, and most importantly it sounds great with [name_f]Willa[/name_f].
