Ari

I like the name [name]Ari[/name] but only as a nickname. I was looking through potential names that I can use [name]Ari[/name] as a nickname. [name]Ariel[/name], [name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianne[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] and [name]Arizona[/name] are no-gos because of personal reasons. I’m not a big fan of [name]Aria[/name] and [name]Ariadne[/name] I have trouble pronouncing. Out of ‘obvious’ names I like [name]Arista[/name] and [name]Arissa[/name].

[name]Arissa[/name]–I like it but it sounds close to [name]Alyssa[/name] and I have a cousin named [name]Alyssa[/name].

[name]Arista[/name]–My stepdaughter’s name is [name]Alana[/name]. [name]Alana[/name] and [name]Arista[/name] were sisters of [name]Ariel[/name] from the [name]Little[/name] Mermaid. I don’t think many people will get the reference.

With both [name]Arissa[/name] and [name]Arista[/name], I feel they are similar to [name]Alana[/name] and would leave my biological daughter out. [name]Even[/name] though I had no say in [name]Alana[/name]'s name.

Other names I considered might be more of a stretch:

[name]Marissa[/name]–It ‘completes’ [name]Arissa[/name] and helps to avoid another A name in the family. Plus, this was one of the names my mom had.

[name]Ardyn[/name]–I like unisex names. It’s a bit more of stretch to get the nickname [name]Ari[/name]/[name]Ary[/name].

Averly–This name encompasses three names I like: [name]Avery[/name], [name]Everly[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name]. The -ly is a good way to honor my DH’s father who passed away. But, it seems like a VERY large stretch for [name]Ari[/name].

*My signature says [name]Avery[/name]. But I am about 75% sure this is our final decision.

Disney stole [name]Ariel[/name] for a girl in my mind.
I like [name]Arianna[/name]. It is very pretty. [name]Ariela[/name] is Hebrew (modern Israeli) for Lioness of God,

[name]Arista[/name] and [name]Arissa[/name] are both nice names. For me, [name]Arista[/name] calls to mind [name]Arista[/name] Records, but I think it would be pretty cool to meet one. Are you mostly concern with initial sharing or that [name]Arista[/name]/[name]Arissa[/name] are stylistically similar to [name]Alana[/name]?

If the latter is what is bothering you, what about:

[name]Amaris[/name] / [name]Amarys[/name]
[name]Ara[/name]
[name]Araminta[/name]
[name]Arcadia[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Arianell[/name] (one of my favorites)
[name]Arianwen[/name]
[name]Artemis[/name]
[name]Artemisia[/name]
[name]Arwen[/name]
[name]Astara[/name]
[name]Atarah[/name]

[name]How[/name] about [name]Arielle[/name] or [name]Arianna[/name]? I don’t think anyone would get The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid reference. I love that movie and didn’t see the connection,

[name]Ariel[/name] (any form), [name]Ariela[/name] (any form), [name]Arianna[/name] (any form), [name]Ariadne[/name], [name]Aria[/name], and [name]Arizona[/name] are already NOs. LOL.

I am a bit concerned with both. The intial and the style but I am trying not to look so much into the initial. Especially since I like [name]Avery[/name].

I have [name]Arden[/name] but spelt Adryn. Is that a stretch for the nickname [name]Ari[/name] or [name]Ary[/name]?

I really like [name]Arden[/name]! I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch. I do prefer this spelling however - most people will guess this way and she might be often correcting for the y in [name]Ardyn[/name]. Obviously your call, but also since you used the traditional spelling for [name]Cadence[/name] (and not Kaydense or the like), I think [name]Arden[/name] looks better matched.

I like the sound of [name]Cadence[/name] and [name]Arden[/name], also [name]Cadence[/name] and [name]Avery[/name]. [name]Ari[/name] from [name]Avery[/name] is a bit of a stretch but you can totally do it. Perhaps especially with an R or Ri/Rhi middle name? [name]Avery[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name]?

It has a tie-in to [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings, but do you like [name]Arwen[/name]? I think [name]Arden[/name] or [name]Avery[/name] might be preferable, but [name]Arwen[/name] is fine.

Or there’s also Auri from [name]Aurora[/name] if Auri and [name]Ari[/name] are pronounced the same to you (depends on your dialect)

Also:
[name]Arabel[/name]/[name]Arabelle[/name]/[name]Arabella[/name] (follows the trendy bell/bella stuff)
[name]Araceli[/name]/[name]Aracelia[/name]/[name]Aracelis[/name] (Spanish names - quite different from [name]Cadence[/name] but also quite lovely)

Good luck!

I adore the nickname [name]Ari[/name].

I like [name]Arista[/name], [name]Marissa[/name], and [name]Arden[/name] spelled that way. [name]Arissa[/name] is too…incomplete. Averly is too made up seeming. :frowning:

Some ideas I have so far are already mention in your post, ([name]Ariana[/name], [name]Aria[/name], [name]Ariadne[/name], [name]Ariel[/name], [name]Arista[/name], [name]Arissa[/name], [name]Arden[/name]), but some that aren’t are:
[name]Gabriela[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name] It’s a very big stretch, but I like it!
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name]
[name]Cara[/name]
[name]Adriana[/name] / [name]Adria[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name] / [name]Aurelie[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]

I like [name]Arden[/name], spelled this way, the best out of your choices! I like it for a girl tooand don’t think the nn ari will be too far of a stretch. I was unaware [name]Arden[/name] was a unisex name bc the only two that i have ever met were girls. Good luck!

I absolutely love the nn [name]Ari[/name]! I love [name]Arden[/name]/[name]Ardyn[/name] as a way to get it, for you. I have always thought [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name]/[name]Aurelie[/name] would be really pretty ways to get it, but those are really frilly, haha, so I’m not sure they would appeal to you.

I think you could also do something like [name]Clarissa[/name]/[name]Clarisse[/name], [name]Marisa[/name] (I like mah-[name]REE[/name]-sah better than mah-RISS-ah, but both are cute), [name]Maria[/name]/[name]Marie[/name]/[name]Mariana[/name]/etc., [name]Parisa[/name]/[name]Paris[/name], etc. to get to [name]Ari[/name]. Or, depending on how you say [name]Ari[/name] (ARE-ee or [name]AIR[/name]-ee? I’ve heard both), you could also use the initials RE to use [name]Ari[/name]. Like [name]Reese[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Reagan[/name] [name]Ella[/name], etc…

Good luck!

I like that [name]Arden[/name]/[name]Ardyn[/name] shares pieces of [name]Alana[/name] (the matching initial) and [name]Cadence[/name] (both have -den in there). I actually think that it connects all three girls quite well.

I just had a baby girl on [name]May[/name] 12th and named her [name]Ardyn[/name]. We call her [name]Arie[/name] ([name]Ari[/name]). We spelled it “[name]Arie[/name]” because she has a sister, [name]Emerson[/name], who we call [name]Emie[/name]. The nickname [name]Ari[/name] is definitely NOT a stretch with [name]Ardyn[/name] and, although I’m biased, it’s an awesome name
