Ariel vs. Adriel

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] or [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] as a FN?

I love the meanings and the nn potential, but I can’t have both on my list. I tend to lean more towards [name_m]Adriel[/name_m], but I know a girl who actually named her baby girl that last year, so I’m concerned it will sound too feminine.

Thoughts?

[name_m]Adriel[/name_m] to me sounds more feminine than [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] tbh. They’re both a bit too feminine, & I probably wouldn’t use either names. But I like [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] more than [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] for a boy (even though it sounds a bit more feminine, I think it flows better than [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], & there’s nothing wrong with having a slightly feminine sounding name for a boy!)

I’d choose [name_m]Adriel[/name_m], it seems more masculine to me. [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is too closely associated with The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid to be masculine for me.

Oh, I love them both so much! But you can’t have [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] and [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] as siblings so if I had to choose one I’d say [name_m]Adriel[/name_m].

I’d go [name_m]Adriel[/name_m]. I’m not hugely keen on [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] for either gender (the only variant I love is [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], even though I love the meaning!). Although I can see the appeal of [name_m]Adriel[/name_m], it’s my pastor’s son’s name, and he’s (and I say this in the most affectionate way I can) a holy terror. lol. So [name_m]Adriel[/name_m]'s not something I’d use myself, but it is really cool! I dislike [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] in most forms, and love [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] (and other Biblical -el names), so for that reason I find [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] more appealing. It’s like a smoosh of [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and [name_m]Daniel[/name_m].

I prefer [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] reminds me of adrenal.

I love [name_m]Adriel[/name_m]! It’s uncommon but it feels classic because it looks like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] or [name_m]Adrian[/name_m].
I prefer Eriel ([name_f]Air[/name_f]-yell) over [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] (I say it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-riel).
They are both good choices, but I would go with [name_m]Adriel[/name_m].
