Ariel?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

[name_u]Ariel[/name_u] has been my latest crush. I’ve always liked [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] but thought it was a little too common/simple for me, but I keep coming back to it. I know the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid association is inevitable, but I find it neutral/positive. What do others think? I’ve seen this name discussed on here sometimes for a boy and I think it is trending more unisex again as time goes on, but I am really digging it for a girl. What are your thoughts on [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] for a girl?

I have always really really loved it, but for me it’s a gp because it’s the name of a super popular cleaning product :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear:

[name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is a great name! I think it is perfect the way it is, but if you are really uncomfortable with the little mermaid association, I would fall back on [name_u]Arielle[/name_u] using the same pronunciation. Before the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid, [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] was traditionally a masculine name, so as you said it might become more unisex again which might take away from the references.

If you love it, I think use it!

I think [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is nice! It does feel a bit ‘simple’ to me like you said it used to feel to you, but it’s a perfectly fine name, pretty, with cute nicknames, and very usable. I don’t mind the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid association either, it’s a nice fairy tale! One of the previous posters mentioned the cleaning product but while it’s also popular where I live I wouldn’t have thought of it.

I’ve always liked the sound - and the imagery it gives is quite nice too. It’s concise yet distinctive in it’s appearance and has a cool meaning

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name!

It actually reminds me of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] more than The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid… & even though that’s a male character, I think [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is a beautiful name for girls!
