Arielle --- Thoughts on this name?

[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] keeps coming up when my hubby and I talk names. I think it has a beautiful sound, but can’t decide if I could see us using it in real life. Any thoughts? Also I’m a little worried it would get mispronounced. I like the R-E-L (just like the letters) way of saying it. Opinions on this name? Please help me decide if it’s a good choice or not!

If you like it, go for it! I personally prefer the [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] spelling and the [name_f]AIR[/name_f]-ee-al pronunciation, but I do like [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] as well! It’s pretty. And by the way, I think if you spell it that way ([name_f]Arielle[/name_f]) people will generally pronounce it R-E-L, like you’d prefer :).

I like [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] a lot. My best friend nearly used it for one of her girls, so I’m biased towards it for that reason, but in general I do prefer the more frilly [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]. Since my best friend was [name_m]French[/name_m], I tend to say it the [name_m]French[/name_m] way (which is similar to R-E-L, but a bit more rushed and [name_m]French[/name_m]-ey. Sort of like ahr-YELL), but I think R-E-L makes more sense for [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] than [name_f]AIR[/name_f]-ee-uhl, anyway.

I know girls named [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] and [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], and boys named [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. I think it’s a really pretty name, and I prefer the [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] spelling. It makes it so feminine and soft at the end.

[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is a beautiful name!!! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know why it’s not more popular. Go for it if you love it!

Thanks for your comments! Makes me like the name even more!

Personally, I don’t care for it much, but it is an OK name.

I like [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] better, and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] way better. The double l and e at the end weakens it for me.

I love it ! Very feminine - I also like [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] .

I think you’re more likely to get the prn you want if you spell it [name_f]Aurielle[/name_f].

I like the name. I think it means Lioness of God or something.

I love it! [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is so feminine and pretty.

Spelled [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], I say air-ee-ull. Spelled [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], I say AHR-ee-ell, like the letters. I think it’s a pretty choice!

I love [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], and [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is gorgeous! Go for it, I don’t have anything negative to say about the name.

I’ve always loved this name. I have considered [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] seriously myself. But, [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] said your way is great, too!

I think this name is so gorgeous. I love the pronunciation, too!

I grew up with a girl named [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] with the nickname REL  I always thought it was pretty. I’m sure she had people mispronounce it, but it wasn’t one of those names people kept messing up after they were told what it was.

Yes! I like this name. I love this spelling vs [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] for a girl. if you both like it keep it. nothing better then agreeing on a name.

I think it’s a great name, very feminine, and totally usable. What aspects have made you weary about using it in real life?

I would definitely pronounce [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] as R-E-L. I’d pronounce [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] as air-ee-ul. But life has proven that people will mispronounce anything but I wouldn’t let that get in the way of using it.

[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] sounds a little more sophisticated and softer to me than [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] a lot too but I do instantly think of The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid, which is a good connection for me but maybe not for others. [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is a little brighter and more upbeat in my opinion.

I love the biblical and Shakespearean connections as well. You should keep it on your list!

I prefer the [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] spelling too, and think you’re likely to get the right pronunciation with it. With this [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling I might give a slight emphasis to the last syllable -r e L, if you will - but the syllables would be almost evenly accented. For me, the [name_f]Aurielle[/name_f] spelling would not work because that would sound like OR-E-L (same first syllable as orion) or possible AW-RE-L (same first syllable as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]). I think [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is your safest bet. The spelling and pronunciation you would use really reduces the Disney associations. Sounds like a keeper

I find the name a bit too hyper-feminine and frilly. I do picture someone very high maintenance and prissy when I hear [name_f]Arielle[/name_f].

I love this name and if you and your DH agree on it…go for it!
