Ariston - is it snobby?

I really like this name for a number of reasons:

  • great flow
  • on-trend with -on ending, but not a common name
  • nice meaning (“excllence”) and history
  • cute nickname
  • has a smart sound
  • looking for a name with a semi old school, traditional vibe, and I think this fits.
  • goes with one syllable middle name, [name_m]John[/name_m]

Other boy names we like: [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m], [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]

I do however, have one major concern with the name - is it totally pretentious sounding? It has same tones as “aristocrat”, which worries me. I have never met another Ariston, so I don’t know how it would actually play out, but I just don’t want my kid labeled a snobby brat!

So, what do you think? Is it too snobby? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name?

Ariston [name_m]John[/name_m] is such a cool combination! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. My first association with Ariston is the father of [name_m]Plato[/name_m], followed by the guy I know called Aristos, who goes by [name_m]Art[/name_m]. Not snobby at all in my opinion. It looks like you have hit the jackpot here!

I actually think that it’s so obscure it kind of goes past being pretentious, simply since people will have absolutely no prior association

I think it’s great, the middle name really grounds it and it’s really handsome
