Opinions on the name [name_u]Arliss[/name_u] for a boy?
Is it too feminine?
Any middle name suggetions?
Anyone wants to share their opinion?
I’ve never heard about it. Before I opened this thread, I thought it was a girl name, so yes, it sounds feminine to me, but I could picture it on a boy, too. It’s not my cup of tea, but I think it’s nice.
I think I would pair it with a classic:
[name_u]Arliss[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Arliss[/name_u] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_u]Arliss[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Arliss[/name_u] [name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_u]Arliss[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m]
I really like this idea! [name_u]Arliss[/name_u] seems like a natural successor to [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].
I agree it reminds me of the name [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].
Isn’t [name_u]Arliss[/name_u] one of the boys in Old Yeller? I’d love to see it used on a little guy. It reminds me of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], and -s endings are trending for boys, so I think it works.
Yes, it is indeed a boy in Old Yeller
Thanks guys. From your suggestions we like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] in the middle name spot.
I like it!
I like it very much. I don’t see it as a girl’s name at all since it sounds like a combo of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. It seems a little on the vintage side… like [name_m]Jethro[/name_m]. But I think it’s unique enough that people haven’t heard it so it might seem modern to a lot of people.
It seemed like a little feminine to me at first, only because I know an older lady named [name_u]Artis[/name_u] (pronounced Artiss). The more I say [name_u]Arliss[/name_u] out loud though, the more I like it.
I liked it when first reading it, then I said it out loud and imagine it could get easily misheard as ‘arse’ in a loud environment?
