Army Girl

[name_u]Story[/name_u] Setting: [name_u]Future[/name_u] [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]. [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and [name_u]America[/name_u] have bled into one nation called the Northern Republic. (Maybe that needs a name change, too.)
Northern Republic Culture: [name_f]My[/name_f] main character comes from an army family. Since her both her mother and father’s families have been serving in the military (her father’s since the republic began), she is required to serve as well. Family tradition is extremely important and not joining the military really isn’t an option for her.
Her Family: Her mother, late father, and two yet-to-be-named younger sisters (I’m thinking twelve and nine years old).
Her: Pretty much a typical eighteen year old girl. She has an athletic build, she’s tall, and she has and wild brunette hair that she hates. Her eyes are this soft, light green color and has an olive complexion, courtesy of her mother’s side of the family, making her about a quarter Mediterranean.
Her sisters look similar enough to that for me not to bother in a description. They really aren’t important characters.
Anyway, I’m pretty hung up on her and her sisters’ names.
They can’t be very girly and can’t conflict with my other two characters’ names.
[name_f]My[/name_f] main character’s first love interest is [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]. (If that’s not a name that screams betrayal I don’t know what is) He breaks it off with her before she leaves for the army and she later falls for a soldier named [name_u]Paine[/name_u] [name_m]Ullrich[/name_m], whose parents were both military as well.

So, to simplify and summarize, three not so girly names that don’t conflict with [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] or [name_u]Paine[/name_u].

how about [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] nn [name_u]Alex[/name_u]? Or [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], nn [name_u]Ash[/name_u]? [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u] for the main girl?

[name_f]Beretta[/name_f] (a firearm), [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ([name_f]Cara[/name_f]), [name_u]Regan[/name_u], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_f]Cady[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

As for the country name, Western or Northwestern might make more sense on a map. I’m assuming the rest of the world is still around, and the majority of the worlds current superpowers are in the Northern Hemisphere, so what I think about when I think Northern Republic is “which [name_u]North[/name_u]?” I think it might even be better to stick with the United thing, it would be a little tongue-in-cheek. United Northwestern Republic might work better. Also, is it really a republic? In a republic the power resides in the people, or it could also continue to be ironic, like the People’s Republic of [name_f]China[/name_f] (not a republic). Or when we call the US a democracy (not a democracy).

Also, what happened with Mexico? [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] is more than just [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and the US.
