Arrow - for a boy?

What do you think of arrow as a boys name?
What words would you think of, if you met a kid called arrow?

Honestly, I might wonder if his brother’s named “[name]Beau[/name]”.

I like it! My hesitation would be around the “straight as an arrow” expression. But, there is nothing wrong with that. So, ya I think it is an intriguing choice with an appealing sound. I know a [name]Yarrow[/name] and a Taro and those names both appeal to me also.

Thumbs up!!!

The sound is great, but I can’t get over the fact that arrows are used to kill things. I just imagine people having a conversation about their names and origins, and him having to say “my name is a lethal flying projectile…” Not exactly the association I’d want my son’s name to have.

I like it! It makes me think of [name]Cupid[/name]'s [name]Arrow[/name], rather than something to kill with, for some reason. If you were naming your son Spear, [name]Gun[/name] or Tomohawk I wouldn’t be so supportive! I do think it’s a cool name for a boy and I like the nn Row.

I like it, it reminds me of the Finnish name [name]Eero[/name] (pr. ay-ro), which is one of my faves

I like it!

rimshot! I definitely prefer [name]Beau[/name] to [name]Arrow[/name] as a name. I love [name]Beau[/name] actually, [name]Arrow[/name] was the name of my pet goat as a kid.

If I met an [name]Arrow[/name], I’d think “cool name, like the sound”
Plays off of [name]Eric[/name], [name]Aaron[/name], at all, but love the O at the end, like [name]Arlo[/name] but without the tricky r-l combo.
I’d wonder how he spelled it.
[name]Eero[/name] = Finnish.
[name]Aro[/name] = not sure, Japanese?
[name]Arrow[/name] = family name, or creative types, or homage to Native American ancestry or interests.

It is cool but a little over-the-top, maybe? I’d think he either was a tough little guy or parents expected it of him. I think of [name]Bow[/name] and [name]Arrow[/name], Poison [name]Arrow[/name], a quiver full, [name]Cupid[/name]'s arrow.

Definitely like it but would have reservations about using for myself. Would love to see it used.
Like the suggestions of Taro and [name]Yarrow[/name].

Good luck!

I have a grandson named [name]Arrow[/name]. He is 4 1/2 years old and I tell him I think he is the only person in the world with his name. The night he was born all my friends asked if he has a brother some day would he be “beau”. In the first few weeks I think we heard every [name]Arrow[/name] joke going.
However, reading this thread, I must say it never occurred to me that his name was a “killing” projectile.
He is the sweetest kid and loves his name. When his little sister calls him “Arwo” you could melt.
And he has been ‘branded’ since birth. We just put the symbol next to his name.
As one commenter posted, everyone thinks his name is ‘cool’ and to the best of my knowledge no one makes fun of him.

I have [name]Arrow[/name] on my list for a boy.

I love it. I’ve already got my list of first names figured out, so I won’t be using it myself, but it’s on my list for middles. Being a name nerd, if I heard of a boy called [name]Arrow[/name], I’d assume his mum was a name nerd too!

I like it a lot. Great sound. Strong name. What about spelling it Arro or [name]Aro[/name]? I like [name]Arrow[/name] as well, but maybe the other two give it more of a name feel and less of a word feel. I think it’s a great name though, regardless of spelling. I may be adding it to my boys list!

I love it!

Not really a fan of. The [name]Beau[/name] comment was funny! I personally like [name]Archer[/name] more.
