Hello, berries!

So, I have been stuck on the name [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] for several years now, but as my husband and I have started conversations about TTC, the naming process has started to feel more real. I had always thought it would be a middle name (Ivy [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is my fav combo :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:), but recently my husband told me that he loves the name Artemisia! This has me considering putting [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] in the FN spot. :relaxed:

The name is significant to me because of the Italian Baroque painter, [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] Gentileschi, who has impacted me a lot through her beautiful work and her life story.

  2. What are some good nicknames for Artemisia? One of my husband’s naming criteria is cute and accessible nicknames.

[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is stunning and so cool. It’s unexpected and unique but the pronunciation is quite intuitive :heart: I really like it, definitely go for it if you both love it!

[name_m]Arty[/name_m] / Artie: especially if you’re honouring an artist!

I think [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] would be great as a first name! It’s so beautiful and meaningful, it sounds great, and looks great on paper, and I think [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds great if you want to keep those names with it! Plus I love a name with great history and menaing, and [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] has such a great hisotry generally and it sounds very special to you.

For intiative nicknames I like
[name_m]Artie[/name_m]
Temie
[name_f]Missy[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] (a bit long bit it could work)

For less intiative nickneames but still great I like
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sia[/name_f]

[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is super cool–definitely a showstopper name! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: It’s quite a bit more elaborate than my personal taste usually leans, but I can definitely appreciate the appeal. It feels grand, elegant, creative, and distinctive, but still wearable. And I love that it has such special meaning to you! For nicknames, I’m a little bit obsessed with @Quentin99’s suggestion of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] (although I may be biased because I love [name_f]Tess[/name_f] in general). More intuitively, maybe Ari?

I also love Gentileschi’s paintings, and the connection to the artist makes [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] extra cool!

I’ve seen people mention [name_f]Misty[/name_f] as a potential nickname for [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], and I think it would work for [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f], too. Artie’s probably my favourite nickname for both names though.

I think it’s lovely. The painter is a wonderful association. It’s a feminist name with an unconventional and strong sound. I would be somewhat concerned about people not knowing how to pronounce it, but I don’t think it’s an insurmountable issue.

All the nicknames I can think of have already been suggested.

[name_f]My[/name_f] absolute favorite name pair in my UC is [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] Sage! And I’d love to give it to my daughter some day and nickname her Themis!

[name_f]Themis[/name_f] would have to be my favorite nickname.

It’s beautiful! It feels strong and feminine at thr same time :slight_smile: I’ve always found it underrated considering how loved [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is.
