As a history major, from time to time I have to write a paper. Occasionally in my research, I stumble across some real gem from history. Today I produce for you this delightful tidbit.
That was really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Interesting article
I hate to admit, I just skimmed it–the print is hard on my eyes.
It did seem interesting! I never knew that about Greek naming!
I loved it, especially the florid rhetoric of the age. Any ideas as to whether it was complete BS? Did Greek women honestly not have names? That flies in the face of all I know about Greece…
Very interesting, thanks!
I’m not sure if that is true or not. I know there was a lot of interest in classical Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] things in that era. [name_m]Hence[/name_m] the “greek revival” style of architecture. I’m trying to do a little research for you on the naming of girls, though!
The author of the piece had some funny ideas about ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] naming customs. There’s a bit of fact in there, mixed in with a bit of baloney.
Interesting I skimmed over part of it 2 kinda hard on the eyes
@nephele most article’s [name_f]IMO[/name_f] are written with a little fact a lot of baloney and most of the time either the writers option or what everyone wants to hear
Also, in 1861, who’s going to fact-check them? I still haven’t found ANYTHING about [name_m]Roman[/name_m] nomenclature for women.
