Artisan. It’s something I’ve been thinking of as possibly using as a name but it appears to be so unfamiliar. I just thought of it one day and thought it would be cool. (Not came up with the word but was just thinking about the word. Idk if anybody has this name or not but with so many people in the world there’s probably at least someone). its nearly a -son name, which is somewhat of a trend, but not exactly a -son name either. This is also a word name as well (b/c of the word artisan). And it can also have nicknames such as [name_m]Arty[/name_m] or (what I prefer) [name_m]Art[/name_m]. So I was wondering, what do you berries think of Artisan being used as a name? All comments and opinions are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
I think it’s corny, honestly. It just seems like you’re trying too hard.
makes me think of a sandwich. cant see it working as a name.
[name_u]Artis[/name_u]? Or maybe [name_u]Artemis[/name_u].
I know the Japanese word for artisan is takumi, and it can also be a name. But in English artisan is just a word, and a word you hardly ever hear. [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] as a name might work, but Artisan is just a tad far out there. There is, of course, [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], if you still wanted those nicknames.
Y’know I think Artisan could totally work as a name. People seemed to have warmed to names like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_u]Poet[/name_u], why not Artisan? It’s a word sure, but It’s hardly a common word that you hear daily and it has a nice meaning (a skilled craftsman). The plus side is that a name like Artisan has the more common nickname options of [name_m]Art[/name_m] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m] in case the full name is too out there or contrived sounding for the little guy. I know names like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] were originally names from mythology but they’re still pretty contrived and it seems like a lot of people, especially berries, are loving them as modern baby names. I think Artisan is a totally viable possibility for a little boy. I actually quite like it.
Reminds me too much of ‘courtesan’. Not the most pleasant association. It has a nice sound though - do you like [name_m]Roman[/name_m]? Or possibly Romarin?
I just think of bread. Sorry. I don’t think it really works. I do love the nicknames but I’d use them for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
I think of an artisan well… sorry
It’s okay, actually, as a name, but I wouldn’t use it.
I can definitely see the appeal but I don’t think it works. I never normally describe names like this but it feels pretentious, even though the intention behind it isn’t at all. It doesn’t help that it’s commonly used as an adjective as well as a noun so kind of comes across as a description of the person rather than a name. It would make a great and unexpected middle name, though.
I second the suggestions of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]Artis[/name_u], [name_m]Artemus[/name_m], [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. Artemon, Artem, [name_u]Arlen[/name_u] and [name_m]Artair[/name_m] could also work.
