I’m looking for an artistic/hipster/free spirit sounding name. I’m not interested in anything super out there. I’ve for a few I really like but am getting stumped. Opinions on the list below and any ideas? Any help is super appreciated.
Honestly your list just feels really trendy (accept [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] which is a bit dated). I think these would be more what you’re describing…
[name_f]Oceana[/name_f]
[name_f]Talitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Io[/name_f] or [name_f]Ione[/name_f]
[name_f]Fuchsia[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tavia[/name_f]
[name_u]Domino[/name_u]
[name_f]Columbine[/name_f]
You said not too out there but that seems sort of contradictory.
Honestly, I think a lot of names from a lot of different categories could appeal to a hipster or give off a hipster vibe. [name_m]Just[/name_m] as they can give off a vintage, timeless, trendy, or made-up vibe. A lot of it’s about context, at a certain point. And I guess my perception of hipster is partly going for a wow factor – while also getting a nod from the cool kids.
Place names such as [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], etc
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]/[name_f]Fauna[/name_f] names: [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], Oryx, [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Maple[/name_f]

[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this, and would likely use it if it didn’t clash with my surname
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - This is OK, pretty sound!
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - On my long list - very pretty
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - Apparently this is dated in the UK, but it sounds very fresh in the US
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] - I’m not sure how I feel about this name yet. It’s OK
[name_f]Vada[/name_f]/[name_f]Veda[/name_f] - This is growing on me!! I MUCH prefer [name_f]Vera[/name_f], though
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] - Eh, I prefer this as a nickname. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Ever[/name_u], though
I’m sorry but your name choices don’t really struck me as hipster -> but more modern with a hipster want to be edge. [name_u]True[/name_u] “hipster” names are bound to be a little unusual and unconventional and a little out there.
I do agree with the pp who suggested a number of different categories:
Flowers/Food: [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
Vintage: [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Horatia[/name_f], [name_u]Marian[/name_u], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
Mythological: [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f], [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
Modern/Unusual: [name_m]Mykelti[/name_m], Kalayna, [name_f]Uma[/name_f], [name_f]Vita[/name_f], Freyja,
We chose [name_f]Isla[/name_f] for our baby in 2012, and we are so in love. We get so many compliments on how pretty her name is, yet have yet to meet another one!
