I’m trying to narrow my list for boys down and I had [name]Asher[/name], [name]Ash[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] on my list. I’m not really loving [name]Asher[/name] anymore, plus it’s the name of an evil cat I know, so I took it off my list. I really love [name]Ash[/name] but not as a full name. Then a lightbulb went off. [name]Sebastian[/name] as [name]Ash[/name] in it. I was considering [name]Bastian[/name] ([name]Bas[/name]-T-en) as a nickname but am not in love with it.
So, what do you think. Is [name]Ash[/name] stretching it or will people figure it out?
I think that’s an awesome idea! I once heard the name [name]Sash[/name] as a nn for [name]Sebastian[/name] which I also love, so [name]Ash[/name] works just as well. Creative, clever, classy and very handsome all around. Go for it!
I love it! I once wrote a story where the main character’s nn is [name]Ash[/name]- his mom was a florist, and apparently sending someone ash branches/flowers means greatness, in the Language of Flowers. Not an inauspicious nn!
Great idea! It works for me, since I pronounce [name]Sebastian[/name] suh-bas-chen, so the bas-chen part sounds a bit similar to bash-chen/bash-ten, if that makes any sense. I think that people would figure it out (for example, I know an [name]Emily[/name] - though I think it’s a different, I mean yooneek, spelling - nicknamed [name]Ally[/name]).
I [name]Love[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] (I have one of my own! We call him [name]Seb[/name] and Sebby). I think [name]Ash[/name] would totally work, but you might want to be consistent with it because I started out with my [name]Sebastian[/name] wanting his NN to be [name]Baz[/name], but every one calls him [name]Seb[/name] and Sebby.
