Asher

i used to be absolutely head-over-heels for the name “asher.” i’ve thought it to be a perfect name with its lovely meaning, muted sounds, and slightly hipster vibe. however, when i hear this name now, i’m not quite as taken with it as i once was.

please feel free to respond to either or both of these queries:

  1. help me love asher again!
  2. do you have any suggestions of names that might be a good fit if asher has run its course?

thanks, berries! :white_heart:

If I told you you could never ever use that name for anything, how would you feel?
It’s odd, I know, but sometimes thinking this way reinvigorates my love for a name.

[name_u]Asher[/name_u] is a lovely name. It fits many different styles, is easy to spell, and in many places (like [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] where I am) is rare enough to be considered a unique name.

Some things I like about [name_u]Asher[/name_u]:

  • modern in vibe, but established
  • gentle but boyish
  • nature-y in vibe but not super wordy/out there
  • similar to ‘classics’, like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] but where I am, it’s not so popular
  • lovely, cheerful meaning

I like [name_u]Asher[/name_u]. Soft, sweet yet masculine. It sounds classic but modern at the same time somehow. Great meaning. [name_u]Truly[/name_u] a gem.

It makes a great middle name if you aren’t loving on it enough as a first name. I had [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] [name_u]Asher[/name_u] on my list.

The only thing I dont like about [name_u]Asher[/name_u] is how similar it is to [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], which I feel like are really popular.

You might like [name_u]Adler[/name_u], which is quite similar without competing with other popular names!

[name_u]Asher[/name_u] is gentle and handsome but I have never been fully committed to it - I prefer [name_u]Ashby[/name_u] (and [name_u]Asher[/name_u] for a girl). But to hopefully make you remember why you like it, it’s definitely a commanding name for all its softness.
