Aspen as a boy name?

What do you think of [name]Aspen[/name] for a little boy?

There was a post about this a while back.

I can see it, but it’s too much of a girl’s name, even for me, and I tend to like this sort of thing. (ie, [name]Kelly[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Jade[/name]…)

I know a little boy named [name]Aspen[/name]. His sister is [name]Sterling[/name]. Not my style. I’d be a little worried about possible nicknames for [name]Aspen[/name]…

I prefer it on a boy. I’m from [name]England[/name] and from my experience it’s really uncommon here I’ve never heard of anyone called [name]Aspen[/name]. But I think of it as as much as a boy’s name as a girl’s if if not more so

I’m really considering this right now for a girl (nn. [name]Penny[/name]), but I love it for a boy, too (nn. [name]Penn[/name] possibly). [name]IMO[/name], most nature names in general tend to work well for either gender.

I like it! I think it better as a boy name than a girl name anyways. That’s just my opinion.

I like it better for a girl…a lot of city names are unisex though. [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], etc.

I love it on a boy always have

I think it’s beautiful on a boy…soft and whispery, like the wind in the trees and thoughtful green misty days.

Its very cool on a boy. [name]Aspen[/name] and Naples would be a cool brother set. But, both have very bad possible nicknames…

I would never give any child a name that begins with “ass”, never mind “ass pen”. Especially not a boy.

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] sounds masculine to me, even though I truly believe it is a unisex name.
Everyone I have mentioned it to thinks it’s a good boys name as well. It didn’t even cross my mind it sounded feminine until I looked it up and saw the remarks.
In Scandinavia [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] tree is called an Asp, pronounced with an O sound. It was later lengthened to aspen in the English language. They are both surnames (aspen, English/asp, [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] [less common in Norway]) it is a hard wood and was used to build houses, furniture etc… I notice in the names of [name_f]Ikea[/name_f] furniture that Asp is included in some of the names. I personally think of Vikings and outdoorsmen.

I wouldn’t think its weird, but for me it is a girls name.

It makes me think of [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. I automatically think girl but there are plenty of boys out there called [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and it suits just fine.

An old friend of mine has a brother named [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. I think it works fine for a boy, I see it more as a boys name anyways.
