Our baby girl is due the first week of [name_f]May[/name_f] and since before we’ve been pregnant I had strongly veto’d A- names.
Both DH and I have an A- name and I was/am concerned that if we use one A- name then we will/should use A- names for #2 and #3 (if we have three kids). And we hope to take a list of three names to the hospital.
My problem was always that I can’t come up with more than 2 A- names per gender that I both DH and I would like.
Our current girls lists looks like this:
DH: [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
Me: [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
From that list what A girls and boys names would you suggest for us?
I don’t think giving your first one a name starting with A establishes any kind of pattern you’ll need to follow with future kids.
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] feels very similar to [name_f]Astrid[/name_f].
A friend gave her first one a name starting with A. Her second one has a name starting with Z. I liked that! There are so many options. (Ps [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], love it )

From the girls list DH likes [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Aria[/name_f]/[name_u]Arya[/name_u] and [name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Anja[/name_f].
From the boys list DH likes [name_m]Axel[/name_m] while I like [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. (I also like [name_m]Alec[/name_m] but being an [name_u]Alex[/name_u]@ndra it feels too close). Sadly so far we still don’t have any overlaps in taste… (this has been a theme throughout our current pregnancy as well until we found [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] - it only took 8 months…lol).
@vc2013: I understand what you are saying about it not having to be a theme but I know if would have bothered me as a child and it’s just not something I want to do to our future kids. With DH being Andr3w and my being [name_u]Alex[/name_u]@andra having a first born be [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and a second [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] just doesn’t feel right to me. If his name were [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or mine [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] I’d totally agree that one A- doesn’t require another but in this case it just would feel weird to me.

@kala_way: I think after the third suggestion [name_f]Annika[/name_f] ([name_m]AH[/name_m]-nee-kah) is growing on me…wonder if it’s too close to our cousin’s name Janneke (YAHN-nə-kə). Though I guess that’s something to worry about later and not right now…lol. DH really likes [name_m]Anders[/name_m] but I think it might be too close to his own name Andr3w… lol.
