We’ve reached a standoff at 33 weeks! Help me think of new suggestions?
Middle name is [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. We agree, and do not want to move it to first name status.
Our last name is Lithuanian - it’s 3 syllables but complicated for many. This is husband’s lineage - I am Welsh/Irish.
My top names:
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
I don’t like alliteration so B names are out
His top names:
[name_f]Brianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f]
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]
He wants something feminine and pretty, nothing hipster or too unique (but he vetoed [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], etc.)
We hate each other’s top picks, and he’s vetoed about 30 others I’ve provided. I’ve started trying to hunt down options that give him a nickname of “[name_f]Bri[/name_f]/[name_f]Brie[/name_f]/[name_f]Bre[/name_f]” without the name actually beginning in B.
I proposed [name_f]Abrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Aubrielle[/name_f] and he’s so-so on it. Anything similar??
We have a boy named [name_m]Jason[/name_m] as well.
From your lists, I like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] best. Interestingly enough, they rhyme. What about another name with ‘ess’ in it…
If the NN [name_f]Bree[/name_f]/[name_f]Brie[/name_f] is something you could compromise, but B names are out, [name_f]Aubrielle[/name_f] seems like a good bet. Or, perhaps, just [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]?
If you’re willing to consider [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], then what about [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]? Classic without being overly fussy or “hipster”.
A few other suggestions inspired from your lists…
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Alanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f]
Names with potential for the “[name_f]Bri[/name_f]” nickname (excluding those that start with B):
[name_f]Ambria[/name_f]
[name_f]Cambria[/name_f]
[name_f]Fabricia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] ([name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]ė is the Lithuanian form, if that interests you)
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Umbria[/name_f]
Some other -essa names: [name_f]Janessa[/name_f], [name_f]Agnessa[/name_f], [name_f]Inessa[/name_f], [name_f]Alessa[/name_f], [name_f]Claressa[/name_f], [name_f]Floressa[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
Similar to [name_f]Abrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Aubrielle[/name_f]: [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Abrianna[/name_f], Adrielle, [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Cambria[/name_f]
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Jessa[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. My favorites from your list are [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. Would he go for another variation of [name_f]Elena[/name_f] like [name_f]Elaina[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Laina[/name_f], or [name_f]Lena[/name_f]?
[name_f]Aubrianna[/name_f] is another one that could work for [name_f]Bree[/name_f]/[name_f]Bri[/name_f]/[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] I think you could also make it work for either on
[name_f]Abrienne[/name_f] or Aubrienne could also work
I like [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f], but prefer [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is nice
Here are some suggestions:
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] (it can be pronounced as either ‘Heh-luh-nuh’ or 'Heh-lay-nuh)
[name_f]Aviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Adira[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
Esca
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
Aila/[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f]
Reya
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabra[/name_f], pronounced [name_m]SAY[/name_m]-bra, could be shortened to [name_f]Bree[/name_f]. (“In the 13th-century [name_u]Golden[/name_u] [name_u]Legend[/name_u], [name_f]Sabra[/name_f] was the name of the daughter of [name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m], king of [name_u]Egypt[/name_u]. She was rescued by St. [name_m]George[/name_m] from sacrifice to the dragon, or giant, and later married him. Used occasionally in [name_f]England[/name_f] as a girl’s name, especially in the 19th century, when it was sometimes spelled [name_f]Sabrah[/name_f]. Allegedly its use in the United States can be found as far back as the mid-1700s. Also occurs in the U.S. in the 1940s.”)
Would he settle for the nickname “[name_f]Ree[/name_f]” ([name_u]Ellery[/name_u], [name_u]Rhian[/name_u], [name_f]Marina[/name_f]) or “[name_f]Dree[/name_f]” ([name_u]Adria[/name_u], [name_u]Landry[/name_u])?
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is definitely feminine and goes well together.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] if he really likes the B sound.
there is also [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]…[name_f]Audrina[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]…[name_f]Adriana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]…
[name_m]Alas[/name_m], my favorites are not making his final list. He might be pickier than me. LOL
He doesn’t like “Aub” combinations as spelling, so we’re still at [name_f]Abrielle[/name_f].
We’ve added [name_f]Karina[/name_f], and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] to our list but he’s still wanting [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], which I veto.
Of your lists I like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f] and [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] as well. But for nickname [name_f]Bri[/name_f] I think [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] is cute.
I’m not sure if you are using a long “A” or a short “A” on [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]. I would suggest, [name_f]Deanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] for a non-b name with a similar sound.
