I’ll go first! I just love the name, because it’s a modern update on a classic name that I have always loved. Discussion Questions
Is [name]Audra[/name] more suitable as a first name, middle name, or both?
[name]Do[/name] you feel [name]Audra[/name] is merely a nickname or is a name in it’s own right?
Does it matter that the A-u-d in [name]Audra[/name] sounds like odd ?
Hmm, I dont know if I “love” it, but heres two cents…
I love [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Audrina[/name]. [name]Audra[/name] lacks a little substance for me, the sound is lovely but a little too airy maybe to stand alone? I could see an [name]Audrina[/name] going by nn [name]Audra[/name].
So I guess
I think it could be a nice feminine mn for a strong first name. I have trouble with it as a fn alone.
Nickname I think, I’d like something a little heftier as a full name. [name]Just[/name] my opinion.
Nope, I dont think the “odd” association is an issue at all! People are quite used to [name]Audrey[/name] which also starts with “odd” if you get right down to it.
Thanks for your input! Can I bug you a little more? Could you give me an example of another name that " lacks a little substance", I just wanna compare. Also, could you give me some examples of some name combos you think are pretty with [name]Audra[/name]? Thanks again!
Yes, I had thought about that too. I guess I’m just a sucker for names ending in -a. What images does [name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] conjure?
[name]Audra[/name] has a special place in my heart, mainly because it’s my great-aunt’s name. I guess you could say I really like the name [name]Audra[/name]. For me, it’s a name that makes me think of slow-cooking a roast, homemade rolls, and maple nut ice cream. I mostly have memories of going to my great-aunt [name]Audra[/name]'s house and having the best home-cooked meals. It’s such a comforting name.
I see it more as a first name, but middle name could work too, especially if the first name is longer than 5 letters.
I don’t see it as a nickname at all, really. It just doesn’t have that same snap as names one typically dismisses as nickname only.
Maybe this is my personal association with [name]Audra[/name], but I never made the “odd” connection. [name]Even[/name] still, it doesn’t affect how much I like the name.
[name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name], eh? Maybe a tad vowel heavy, but not too bad. I kind of like it though.
I like it too, but I can see why it sounds more like a nn. It’s short and can obviously be a nn for [name]Audriana[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], etc. I don’t mind it either way, and I could see it as a first or middle name. I like [name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name], but [name]Audra[/name] [name]Melisande[/name] floats my boat more. =) The aud/odd similarity doesn’t bother me, in fact I pretty much never noticed.
As a general opinion, I’ve always liked [name]Audra[/name], yet I dislike [name]Audrey[/name]/[name]Audrina[/name] etc. I imagine it on a very strong willed, blonde little girl. It seems a little bit dated to me, but its still a great name.
Is [name]Audra[/name] more suitable as a first name, middle name, or both? - I like it as a first name with a strong but more feminine middle name. Seems a bit dull in the middle for some reason. Eg: names like [name]Katie[/name] [name]Audra[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Audra[/name] just seem to be lacking something.
[name]Do[/name] you feel [name]Audra[/name] is merely a nickname or is a name in it’s own right? - Could and should definitely be used alone.
Does it matter that the A-u-d in [name]Audra[/name] sounds like odd? - I say it as ‘ORR-drah’ (don’t know if that’s just my accent) which doesn’t sound much like ‘odd’ to me.
[name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] is very pretty, but I love all names ending in ‘ah’ paired with [name]Seraphine[/name].
[name]Audra[/name] [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Audra[/name] [name]Verity[/name] seem to stick out to me, if you were looking for middle name suggestions.
[name]Hi[/name], I worked with a woman named [name]Audra[/name] and I really like the name. It’s light and pretty. It never seemed like an odd or unfinished name.
I have the same issue with [name]Elle[/name], I think it’s gorgeous in sound but I have a hard time seeing it attached to a real person. It feels too light to me. I love [name]Ellie[/name] for [name]Elizabeth[/name] though. [name]Even[/name] [name]Isla[/name] which I know has a lot of fans, it’s just too airy for me. I think it’s a definite style preference.
Combos w/ fn [name]Audra[/name]…

[name]Audra[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
I agree [name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] is pretty and prefer it to [name]Seraphina[/name] in this combo.
I went to school with an [name]Audra[/name], she’s very sweet and a southern belle so that’s what I think when I hear it. I like it much more than [name]Audrey[/name] and just slightly less than [name]Audrina[/name].
I’ve always really liked [name]Audra[/name] - I’d feel strange using it myself since my best friend has a little [name]Audrey[/name], but it’s always brought to mind a warm, kind person who wears autumnal colors, which are my favorites (that’s probably the “Au”, haha). I think it strikes a wonderful balance between fitting in and standing out, and I can easily picture a sweet baby [name]Audra[/name], a teen [name]Audra[/name], a professional adult [name]Audra[/name], a grandma [name]Audra[/name] - hard to do with a lot of other names!
[name]Audra[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] is beautiful, I prefer that to [name]Seraphina[/name] in this instance.
I didn’t even think about how a little girl’s hair color could contribute to the soma of a name.
Question- What hair color is [name]Audra[/name] best complimented with?
I think that I just assumed brunette, because my brain always associates [name]Audra[/name] with [name]Audrey[/name]- which makes me think of [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn, who was a brunette.
I loved what you said about [name]Audra[/name] being “… a wonderful balance between fitting in and standing out”. That’s such a good way to phrase it. I especially agree that the name [name]Audra[/name] will age well!
I do this all the time when I can’t choose between names. For [name]Audra[/name] I picture medium to dark brown hair, with or without a reddish tone. I could see blue eyes, too, although it seems better with brown eyes. If you want to go even further you can look up the Kabalarians info for the name.
I agree with your view of the name [name]Elle[/name]. [name]Elle[/name] makes me think of either the magazine “[name]Elle[/name]” ( an inanimate object) or supermodel [name]Elle[/name] Macpherson ( a goddess). You should make a list of “airy names”
