The title really explains it all. We’re due with our first baby in [name_u]August[/name_u] and so far the only boy names we can agree on are [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. But would it be weird to have the same name as the month you were born in? Or Is it better that way? There’s also a chance that he could be born in [name_u]July[/name_u] since we’re due the 1st week in [name_u]August[/name_u]. Would it be weirder to be born right before [name_u]August[/name_u] and be named [name_u]August[/name_u]?
Probably over thinking this but just thought I’d get some opinions
Nahh I don’t think it’s weird either way, it’s getting to be a reasonably popular name. And I for one enjoy a good theme.
If he’s born in late [name_u]July[/name_u], he may once in a while get a few “Were you born early?” comments here and there. But I don’t think it’s severe enough to avoid a name entirely. And most probably aren’t that clever anyway. In real life, a person’s birthday is discussed so minimally.
The whole ‘naming-a-baby-after-the-month-or-season-it-was-born-in’ is a never ending debate and the general consensus is that there is no correct answer. Either people (i.e namenerds) will say it’s too on the nose if you name the baby [name_u]August[/name_u] and he was born in [name_u]August[/name_u] and others (again namenerds) will say it’s too weird if you name the baby [name_u]August[/name_u] and they weren’t born in [name_u]August[/name_u].
The vast majority of people will not notice, as @justthinkin mentioned, if he ends up being born in late [name_u]July[/name_u] he might get the occasional comment but it won’t be often enough and I can’t imagine how many people he will encounter that will ponder over his name being [name_u]August[/name_u] and him being a [name_u]July[/name_u] baby or an [name_u]August[/name_u] baby.
FWIW, I think [name_u]August[/name_u] is a beautiful name (along with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]! You’ve agreed on absolute lovely names!) and I personally love it when situations like Augusts that are born in Augusts or Autumns that are born in [name_f]October[/name_f] happen.
I LOVEEEE the name [name_u]August[/name_u] and even intend on using it myself. it’s so handsome. I think whether he was born in [name_u]August[/name_u] or not is irrelevant. If you love it, go for it.
Either way is fine as [name_u]August[/name_u] is a well established name so we don’t assume that his birthday is in [name_u]August[/name_u]. Different story if you were choosing a unique month name for him such as [name_f]February[/name_f]. [name_u]August[/name_u] is a really nice choice!
[name_u]August[/name_u] works beautifully for a baby born in any month! I’d say go for it if you really like it. My MN is [name_f]April[/name_f], and I’m a [name_u]July[/name_u] baby. It’s never bothered me.
I had a similar dilemma. I considered [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] for one of my twins but in the end I couldn’t get past it being either the month he was born or his sun sign. I definitely overthought it too. In the end we picked a different name and they ended up coming in [name_u]July[/name_u] anyway. lol To be fair, there will always be people that will wonder why his name is [name_u]August[/name_u] if he was born in [name_u]January[/name_u] so just go with what you like. [name_u]August[/name_u] is an awesome name in its own right.
There’s always [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] or [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] if you don’t want the exact month association.
[name_u]August[/name_u] is a fantastic name, regardless of birth date. I wouldn’t expect an [name_u]August[/name_u] to have been born in [name_u]August[/name_u], even though it’s not a popular pick at all where I live.
I had this dilemma with my first son, who was due/born in [name_u]August[/name_u]. We ultimately named him something else and we refrained from using [name_u]August[/name_u] as his middle name so we could save it for a future son. I just had son #2 in [name_u]November[/name_u] and when we told people we were probably naming him [name_u]August[/name_u] (like nurses in the hospital, etc), the universal response was “I don’t get it; he’s born in November.”
When you’ve spent a lot of time of baby name websites you forget that the vast majority of people hear “[name_u]August[/name_u]” and just think of the month and not the [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. Now I personally wish we’d just used it on our [name_u]August[/name_u]-born son.
