I currently like the name [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] (the french spelling). What are your thoughts about it?
What du you think about [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m] & [name_u]Auguste[/name_u]?
I also like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m].
I love [name_u]Auguste[/name_u]. I am a big fan of [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] (nn [name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_u]Gus[/name_u]) as well.
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is a great name.
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] always reminds me of a pet name.
I’m not a fan of the last 4; [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is okay.
Unless you live in [name_f]France[/name_f] or an area with a heavy [name_m]French[/name_m] population ([name_m]Quebec[/name_m], [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], etc.), I’d avoid it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you pronounce it the [name_m]French[/name_m] way, nobody else will.
I like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], and [name_u]August[/name_u].
I will use the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, yes! But his father will say it in English. Our children will grow up in [name_f]France[/name_f], normally.
I prefer [name_u]August[/name_u], as (to me) it sound less harsh than [name_u]Auguste[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustus[/name_m], and the [name_u]Gus[/name_u] sound (which I dislike) is less prominent. But as you’re living in [name_f]France[/name_f], I suppose [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] would probably make more sense. [name_u]Auguste[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], & [name_m]Felix[/name_m] make a great sibset, and I think they could work with some of the other names you like.
I love [name_u]August[/name_u] in both languages but if your children will grow up in [name_f]France[/name_f] I’d also use the [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_u]Eliott[/name_u].
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] is nice as well.
I don’t love [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] in [name_m]French[/name_m], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is not my style and while I prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] is very pretty, too.
I love love love [name_m]Oscar[/name_m].
Actually we use [name_u]Eliott[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] in [name_f]France[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] but does it not look weird in [name_u]America[/name_u]? Maybe we won’t stay all our life in [name_f]France[/name_f]. At least, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] looks good in both ways.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that a boy named [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] could be teased? (Gasp, Gas, …)
I just thought that [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] ranks significantly higher than the other spellings, especially [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
And I’m not sure if, should you ever leave [name_f]France[/name_f], [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] wouldn’t have to correct everyone’s spelling all the time (and contrariwise, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would have to correct his name’s spelling in [name_f]France[/name_f]?).
Would your partner pronounce [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m], Gas-pard? I don’t think the teasing potential of [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] is very high, the words you mentioned might not even occur to kids.
I think that I’d either spell all names the [name_m]French[/name_m] way or the English way which is basically what I wanted to say with my first post
[name_u]Auguste[/name_u]…I dislike it, sorry. Isn’t it pronounced ow-GOOST? I don’t like that, if I’m right (I might not be). I’d definitely recommend [name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]!
