What do you think about the name [name]Augustus[/name]? Is it too much name for a baby? What do you think of the nickname [name]Gus[/name]?
I like [name]Augustus[/name] or just plain [name]August[/name]. I have [name]August[/name] on my list actually. I don’t like the nickname [name]Gus[/name] at all though. It is too plain and overdone. I like Auggie better!
I love [name]Augustus[/name], it’s one of those names I don’t think I’d ever be brave enough to use myself, but I’d love to see someone else use it.
I love [name]Gus[/name] as a nn, but I also like the suggestion of [name]Augie[/name] as well!
I like [name]Augustus[/name] and his nickname [name]Gus[/name]. Good choice.
My husband and I keep kicking around this name and [name]August[/name]. I think they are both very nice names but pretty hard for a child to carry.
[name]Augustus[/name] is an old [name]Roman[/name] name that I think is gorgeous! It’s majestic without being pretentious and it has a lot of depth and history. If some parents are naming their boys [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Maximus[/name] and [name]Titus[/name], why is [name]Augustus[/name] too much? I also like [name]August[/name] and [name]Augustine[/name].
I agree with [name]Mischa[/name], it is not any different from [name]Marcus[/name] or [name]Magnus[/name]. It might seem like a lot of name for a baby, but they grow up into adults anyways.
[name]Augustus[/name] is a strong and handsome name. It means “great”. And the nickname [name]Gus[/name] is absolutely adorable.

Best of luck!
I like it, and I agree it does feel very majestic and I like the nn [name]Gus[/name]. It was recently used in a book called The Fault in Our Stars, the character was [name]Augustus[/name] Waters who went by [name]Gus[/name]
That’s why I was asking about it! I’m currently in the middle of it, and loving it
[name]Augustus[/name] is an awesome name! Not too much for name for a baby, especially since there are a few NN options that could work well in his younger years (Auggie, [name]Gus[/name]-- I actually prefer [name]Gus[/name] as a NN). I think some of these ancient Latin names are becoming more common these days, so while [name]Augustus[/name] will remain a relatively uncommon name, there will likely be other names around with a similar kind of feel to them ([name]Atticus[/name], [name]Caius[/name], [name]Titus[/name], etc). And it’s a well-known name, one of those names that’s been in the top 1000 since before the year 1880, while at the same time has never been overly common (at #769 now). It’s got tons of history too, which is also a major plus for any name in my book. I think it’s a spectacular choice!
I love this name and would be on my list but my husband nixed it!
I really, really like [name]August[/name] with the nn options of Auggie and [name]Gus[/name]!
I don’t really like [name]Augustus[/name] but I do like [name]Gus[/name] a lot. [name]Augustus[/name] just seems a bit extreme and slightly pretentious. I’ve never met or heard of a single person with either name.
