Really love the name [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but don’t seem to like any of the nicknames. Also, the name [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is starting to grow on me, but I would never use it alone.
Is [name_f]Lila[/name_f] too much of a stretch as a nickname for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]?
I don’t think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is too much of a stretch, but it doesn’t jump out as one of the obvious nicknames for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. …Like I would assume [name_f]Lila[/name_f] was a nickname for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilian[/name_f]. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is still very cute, and I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]!
To me, [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a full name on its own. It seems silly to use [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (personally) I think [name_f]Lia[/name_f] would make more sense.
But to answer your question, [name_f]Lila[/name_f] would work as a nn if that’s what you end up calling her.
I think it’s too much of a stretch. There’s no “[name_u]Lyle[/name_u]” sound in [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] to make it intuitive. Plus, to me [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a name on its own.
I would choose the given name that you are going to call her. I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] but then I would call her that. If you are going to call her [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (which is also lovely) then that is the name I would give her. Sorry, but I don’t see the point of naming her one name and then calling her another that is a true stand alone name on its own.
