Aurelia or Amalie? Which do you prefer?

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - family name, love the meaning and lightness. I think it is elegant and unusual. One downside to me is that being southern the pronunciation varies (Aw-REEL-yah versus Au-RAIL-yah).

[name_f]Amalie[/name_f] - germanic roots would complement the sibset nicely, two boys with Germanic/Norwegian inspired names. (Hubs is [name_m]German[/name_m]). I much prefer this spelling to the french spelling ([name_f]Amelie[/name_f]), though they are pronounced nearly the same. I love the softness of this name and it feels very ‘bright’ and a little unexpected in a good way.

Possible middles…

[name_f]Amalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f]

???

Thoughts or votes anyone? Thanks in advance!

Both are pretty but I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], although I prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f].

I like both names but prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. I slightly prefer [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] to [name_f]Amalie[/name_f].

Second this.

I like both names but prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] I like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] better than [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f] though, as I find it a little bit ‘R’ heavy.

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is really pretty… and I do like [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] too! Oh boy more to think about

I like both but I definitely prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f] is so lovely and fresh! It is “R” heavy, as another person said, but I actually like that about it–I think it rolls off the tongue better that way. I don’t like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as much–it’s a whole lot of letters for one name, and sounds clunky and repetitive (“elia” and “eliza”).

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] SO MUCH. It’s in my top ten. It is SO GOOD.

I don’t care for [name_f]Amalie[/name_f]. It is pretty, but not even close to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

Good luck deciding!

Both names are gorgeous but for me, I find [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] easier to say as it’s shorter and more concise sounding. I would choose [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

Yes… it does totally feel rushed, I hear it!

[name_f]Amalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] is pretty, but I speak [name_m]French[/name_m], so [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is the spelling that looks “right” to me. I do like the [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] suggestion a lot though - best of both worlds?

I much prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (Au-ray-lia) but not with [name_f]Raine[/name_f]

Both are lovely, but I prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. I think I’m bred to prefer Amélie–it was my best friend’s name, and I’m so used to seeing it. Much as I’ve tried to appreciate [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] (I even love [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]–all the similar variations), it just seems off. [name_m]How[/name_m] is it said? I’m not anywhere near as comfortable with [name_m]German[/name_m] as I am [name_m]French[/name_m], and, to my imagination, I wouldn’t say [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] very similar to Amélie at all. Maybe I’m missing something obvious, though, lol. I adore [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], though–she’s gorgeous.

I love both names. They’re so pretty and delicate. I do slightly prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Amalie[/name_f], I think it’s more elegant. I love the combo [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f] ”

Both are lovely, but I think [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is amazing.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

I love both names, but I prefer [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] It’s pretty, and probably easier to wear, depending on where you live - and [name_f]Amalie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful.
