I accidentally wrote this in someones else’s thread (if anyone saw that- yeah… know that I am thoroughly embarrassed lol)
SO, lets try this again
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]- What are your thoughts? I’m actually starting to really like A names now for some reason which is something that I never thought would happen (considering I hated A names for the longest time)
Is [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] too trendy to use now? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u]? And is there any other nicknames that derive from [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]?
I love the name, but I can’t use it because it sounds so ridiculous when I say it, it’s prettier when other people say it lol. My tongue just trips over it. It’s the two R sounds so close together that I get stuck on.
I wouldn’t say it is trendy, it is certainly more popular now but not trendy. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is my favourite nickname ever (for [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], though), but I also like [name_f]Aura[/name_f] as a nickname.
I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! I think it’s a stunning choice, and as popular as it may be, I’ve yet to ever meet one. I think it’s simply lovely, however I do trip over the Rs a little bit when I say it.
I’m very biased because it’s my favourite girls name but I adore [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] so much!! I don’t think it’s too trendy even if its popularity is going up as it’s not suuper popular. I love [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname because I think it’s cute and so different from the full name but I love the pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Aura[/name_f]- so pretty!!
I really do like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] because it is vivid, lively, and strong. (I’ve always had a thing for “A” names with 3+ syllables, though!) However, I would agree that it is quite trendy, and I’m not sure I love the princess association. A similar name I like better is [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. It is so spunky and cool!
I loved the name ever since I was a child! But eventually I just grew out of it, mainly due to the huge disney association that people seem to make with it, the pronouciation problem that other people and myself have, and I do feel that it’s becoming more popular. It’s still a wildly lovely name though! The meaning is wonderful and it makes me think of the northern lights. This name was actually a top competitor in my list, but for the reasons above, it lost to one of my other favorite names.
I have to be in the minority and say that I really don’t see the appeal in [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. I dont find the repeated ‘or’ sound pretty.
I don’t mind the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] but even then, I’d prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a stand along name over [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! I guess it depends on your taste and that is all that matters right?!
I think it’s relatively popular but not trendy. I’ve known a couple of little Auroras but not nearly as many as the number of Eleanors, Evelyns, Charlottes, Amelias, Lilys and Olivias I see.
I think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is gorgeous - different enough without being strange; easily recognisable. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] makes for a fantastic nickname – some could say [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is quite frilly and feminine, while [name_u]Rory[/name_u] lessons the frill and gives it a more ‘tom-boy’ type vibe (for lack of a better way to put it).
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is such a zesty and beautifully grounded name, and with the imagery from [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] Borealis, it’s just divine.
I only know of 2 little [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]'s - one in QLD, Australia, and another in Norway’s south.
