Hey, y’all. I’m not interested in using these names, though I am wondering what you think of them. I love them, as I am I huge [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] fan and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] has a personal connection. With [name_u]Austen[/name_u], I am worried that people might mistake her for a boy and/or spell her name [name_m]Austin[/name_m]. Because of this I would give her a feminine middle name like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. With [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], I am also worried that people might think she’s a boy. I do like [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], just not even close to as much. All feedback is welcome.
Personally I can’t really see [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] working on a girl. [name_u]Austen[/name_u] is kind of similar to [name_u]Logan[/name_u] where it can work on a girl, but I don’t really love it. It would definitely be misspelled as [name_m]Austin[/name_m] and in a lot of cases, middle names won’t be as important or seen so if someone just sees [name_u]Austen[/name_u] _____ it won’t be obvious she’s a girl, even with a super feminine middle name.
I understand this. I think with all the names for girls these days, both work.
I think [name_u]Austen[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] would be gorgeous.
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] is pronounced the same way as [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] is where I am from. I happen to like [name_m]Adriel[/name_m] for a girl, so I can see the appeal.
Consider:
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] . [name_u]Amory[/name_u] . [name_u]August[/name_u] . Aven . Galadriel . [name_u]Channing[/name_u] . [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] . [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] . [name_u]Jude[/name_u] . [name_f]Judith[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or jodi
[name_u]Lyle[/name_u] . [name_u]Leland[/name_u] . [name_u]Layne[/name_u] . [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] . [name_m]Miles[/name_m] . [name_u]Micah[/name_u] . [name_u]Percy[/name_u] . [name_u]Peri[/name_u] / [name_f]Perri[/name_f] . [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] . [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] . [name_u]Tate[/name_u] . [name_f]Verity[/name_f] . [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] just doesn’t work for me, and like others have said, [name_u]Austen[/name_u] will likely be misspelled as [name_m]Austin[/name_m], and without a feminine MN, no one will be able to identify it as a girl’s name. Best of luck to you though
I’ve known a couple of girls named [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], which I say the same as [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. I’m conflicted about [name_u]Austen[/name_u] because I actually like the spelling best for a boy, but I think the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] connection is sweet for a girl as well.
I’d be more open to [name_u]Austen[/name_u] for a girl bc of [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Not a name I would want to be named, but name tastes have changed.
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] is a male name as opposed to a surname which are more open in my mind. And yet I love [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and loathe [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], so who knows.
I do know several [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]’s, but to my ears [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] is all masculine, same with [name_u]Austen[/name_u]. I do love the connection to [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] though and that might make it work for a girl!
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] is pronounced the same as [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and is the feminine form. [name_u]Austen[/name_u] is also a masculine name. You can always use [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to honor the author, or place [name_u]Austen[/name_u] or [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] in the middle.
I actually know a couple of female Adrians (spelled that way), but [name_u]Austen[/name_u] only on boys (spelled [name_m]Austin[/name_m]).
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] is growing on me though I still prefer the spelling [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. Would the nn [name_m]Tenny[/name_m] work for [name_u]Austen[/name_u]?
I do know of a girl [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] but I will admit, for me it’s all boy (and as a [name_u]Brit[/name_u] reminds me of [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Mole which is not the most flattering association!). But there is definitely some history/usage of it as a gir’s name. Look at [name_m]Rocky[/name_m]! I mean I think technically that was a nickname but it’s familiar because of it.
[name_u]Austen[/name_u] I’m torn. I think I probably wouldn’t use it because as you say, people would mistake it for [name_m]Austin[/name_m] - but I’d love it as a middle name and the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] connection makes me happy.
Yeessss [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] are so cute and can be names for boys and girls, I totally think you should do it.
It’s not something I would use myself but [name_u]Austen[/name_u] definitely works on a girl, I can’t say the same for [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] though. That’s strictly boy to me.
I think both could potentially work, though I would definitely think that girls named [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] might get mistaken for boys at least sometimes. [name_u]Austen[/name_u]'s spelling helps a little, but [name_m]Austin[/name_m] is still more popular for boys so people will think of it that way. [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] would be more clear than [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] on gender.
Those are masculine names and should only be used on boys. You wouldn’t name a boy [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] would you?
My girlfriend’s name is [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], and it sounds exactly like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] out loud. My brother’s fiance is also named [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], and hers is said the same way too. I’ve heard that some berries pronounce the names differently, but in my family [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] are identical out loud! So I strongly prefer [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] for a girl.
I consider [name_u]Austen[/name_u] a unisex name myself, as I’ve known a fair number of males and females with the name. [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] has a feminine spelling.
If [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] has a personal connection, could [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] still honor that? Could the nn [name_m]Tenny[/name_m] come from [name_u]Austen[/name_u]?
I have always loved [name_u]Austen[/name_u] on a girl, I wasn’t quite sure how I would spell it if I ever used it but I love the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] reference it gives. I have seen [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] used on many girls (never on a boy) so I see it as a complete girls name! If you ever do consider the names I would suggest using it!
